Concert Ticket Prices and Service Fees SUCKKK

Looked into a few summer concerts coming up.

common music: Santana, PINK, Elton John, Kenny Chesney.......

$300 each, plus a $38 service fee, so then add going out to dinner and parking and such? and these are the cheap seats.!!!!!!!

I comes up to near $1000 to go see a music venue.

Sigggghhhhh, it used to be about $20-30 bucks including the concert t-shirt you HAD to wear to school the next day.

What is a concert t-shirt now? start at $65 or more.

Back in the day, real men waiting in line in the rain for Rolling Stones or the Who.
We saved our stubs.

badges of honor.

The only way to win this game is not to play.

What venue and what seating preference?
i see the Santana and Doobie Brothers summer concert series with ticket prices starting at around $50 for the nosebleed section.

At the white river amphitheater in Auburn WA, $300 get you on the floor center stage about 30 feet from the performers. (not including fees, taxes etc.)

And I bought an ELO concert Tee shirt last week for $10 after the show in the parking lot.
That's not much more than they cost 39 years ago!

Back in the day, concerts were put on to promote RECORD SALES.
As such, the concerts were almost as cheeeeep as the albums.

But nowadays, kids don't but albums anymore. They click and download. So the performers and promoters are not inclined to put on cheap concerts that don't create sales.

They charge what the concert is worth and it is more expensive. You can go or stay home, your choice.

Greed my ass.

I will concede that I was pissed when they charged me $20 to park and walk a quarter mile, but I got over it.

So... we're back to needing miracles again vs. needing $20, a night off work, and a ride to the show

They were just talking about this on the Joe Rogan podcast...one of the other comics couldn't believe when his fans started to complain his $40 show tickets had a $16 service fee from Ticketmaster.

He says he doesn't see a single dime from that service fee and is currently working on a different system...who knows if it will work.

I was shocked when I saw the beer prices.
But since I don't drink, I felt kinda good knowing that all them moneys were staying in my pocket.

This.

When the Ticketmaster BS is the only way to get a ticket and they offer no added value to the ticket, just price.

No doubt the politicians are getting big "bribes" in the form of campaign donations so they will not change the laws. The cities make more money so they are happy to participate. Just a total ripoff. 100% legal. I just don't participate.

Reminds me of when I was 17 and went to see the beach boys at Anaheim stadium. IIRC I was making $2.15 an hour working 20 hours a week.
We stashed our bikes in the trees along the river trail and bribed a guy around the back of the stadium with $5 to let us in.

I had a point but I'm not sure where it went off to.

Saw dead & co last week. $125. Friday saw John Prine $95. Aug 1 seeing Rolling Stones $110. I go to a lot of concerts and the avg price I pay for seats, not lawn, is around $100. I think I paid $65 for Paul McCartney a year or 2 ago and $130 for Paul Simon last year and $85 for The Who 2 years ago.....etc. Santana I never paid more than $45 under the shell

Not saying these are cheap compared to back in the day when we got up early and stood in the rain but I’ve never paid close to $300 for a ticket except once and that was Metallica last November. I think that was $250

The biggest charge i paid that pisses me off was $50 to park at The Rolling Stones show in 2015

Beer prices, yea ridiculous.

Just looked at my Grateful Dead ticket stub from 1988 and it was only $16 all those years later, same for Clapton and The Who the following year 1989
