Sci Fi guys, Netflix, Altered Carbon

So, what do you think? I have watched 3 or 4 episodes and I like it so far. It's got a little bit of a BladeRunner feel to it. The teasers that I saw for it were put together so weirdly, I wasn't going to watch it, but had some time one day and was a little curious. I had planned to watch a little bit and then turn it off, but now I'm hooked. I like the "world" and the characters are interesting. The little police woman is pretty cute. It's got some story vs just being all SFX/cgi. Hey, and there's lots o boobies.

This trailer is better than the teaser that I kept seeing.

I was lost by the time it ended, VERY noir in that there were so many characters twisted so much together, that when the final reveal is made (and it is, don't worry)...I honestly didn't fully understand who had done what to who.

I need to rewatch the series I think.

It is number 2 on my list of series to try. Made this list this morning. It may be a fewl
days before I get there but it sounds like it may be my kind of entertainment.

Black Mirror
Altered Carbon
Stranger Things
Godless
Peaky Blinders

I enjoyed it, but agree with Pazuzu that I will probably have to re-watch it.

I enjoyed it visually. But I didn't have much of a clue what everyone was doing. Too confusing when the characters can switch bodies. Dont really care tho. Id still recommend it, just for something entertaining.

Wife and I watched season one. It’s good, nice T&A too. It will be interesting where they take it for season 2

Altered carbon - the book, was great....what a concept...

Altered Carbon - the series, was very confusing - at least for people who did not read the book. It drops a lot of info on the world, the sleeving, the immortals, the possibilities, and the sound editing was atrocious in the first few episodes. I genuinely had no idea was the hispanic cop was saying until later in the season. Makes it hard for people who had no idea what this was about, IMO... If you've read the book, it's easier... Talking about the book, they did not follow the resleeving/torture thing to the letter, and I understand why that could not make it to TV, but that was a memorable part of the book missing... Overall I enjoyed it, but I get why a lot of my friends couldn't get into it. Felt a little rushed too...

Did not have any trouble following. Let it unfold at it's own pace. Maybe it helped that I binge watched.

I persevered and got thru the first episode.

When if finally figured out I was watching a live-acted graphic novel with tons of oversatuated colors and with the totality of the background being excessive cgi, it became impossible for me to ignore the fact that the whole thing was done in front of a green screen.

The sex was pretty graphic, though. So there's that.

Won't watch any more.

I'm reading the book right now. I watched a portion of the first episode to see how they are doing. Going to wait to watch more until after I've finished the book.

I never read the books because I didn't want to invest the time in something I suspected was going to piss me off with uneducated takes on Japanese culture, the Yakuza, etc...

And I was right.

I watched the series. I didn't find it all that confusing, but I did find it a bit over-the-top with nudity and violence. I certainly had no need to see British Guy's dong.

Could have not said it better myself! I'm guessing all of the nudity is to compete with Game of Thrones.... The "dong" did catch me by surprise, but at least it was balanced with 3 to 4 times as much "bush".

Ah... I thought the book(s) were pretty cool. Is interesting to have a 'protagonist' that I cant sympathize with. In the book hes a bad guy, the series makes him more simpathetic and that sort of lost its charm for me. Is the distant future so why does anything need to be like now?

The adaptation... some things they changed are just so stupid, the sister for example. I feel sorry for the author that helped with the adaptation.

Mostly though I thought most of the acting was horrible.

Liked the first few episodes, then watched the rest like a train wreck.

Not confusing so much but I agree that the sound is awful. And yes the Hispanic cop has a smokin' bod.

I liked it, I did not read the book so cant compare, but I thought the stack and sleeve concept was great. I didn't notice any issues with the sound, then again my A/V system upgrades the channel signal.

There isn't really anything about the yakuza in the books. The only japanese part of the story is his name... he is half japanese and half Hungarian or something.

They lead up to a nude scene, have 10 commercials, then show the nude scene to reward you for not changing channels or falling asleep.
