Whats with the run on TP?

Okay - I understand food, water, ammo, gas..

...but why the run in TP?

RSBob 03-09-2020 07:04 PM

Uh.. because if people self isolate for multiple weeks or months and don’t shop, they might run out? Just going out on a limb.

Just like with cloth diapers, adults can use rags and place them in the washing machine. So you are right, it doesn’t make sense but then a good half of the population doesn’t make logical decisions (this goes for Democrats, Republicans and Independents).

Plenty of asswipe in my local CVS this weekend. Good luck buying Clorox wipes or aloe or rubbing alcohol or anything else related, though.

Just for laughs, I'm telling all my friends to walk into CVS and ask where the hand sanitizer is, just to see that teenaged eye roll. :)

dentist90 03-09-2020 07:20 PM

Some people won’t shake hands because of corona virus.
I’m not shaking hands because I don’t know who has run out of tp 😜

so we should be hoarding Tide? :)

sc_rufctr 03-09-2020 07:38 PM

We've had a run on TP for about 3 weeks.
Not sure how long yours has been.

Stupid... People have been fighting in the stores :(

pmax 03-09-2020 07:38 PM

Why is the market dropping ?

Buy enough before the rioting begin.

JackDidley 03-09-2020 07:39 PM

Someone on the internet (forums) said panic and do stupid stuff, so people panic and do stupid stuff. Remember the Y2k thing. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1583807847.jpg My sister made her husband fill the garage with water and canned food.

93nav 03-09-2020 07:44 PM

When you are scared, you ****, a lot!!

craigster59 03-09-2020 08:29 PM

Home Depot had a bunch of TP while Costco, Walmart and Target were sold out.

pmax 03-09-2020 08:37 PM

You're gonna need lots of TP after eating canned foods for 2 weeks and that's assuming you don't get the virus.

I understand the more people in a household, the more of everything is used. But (butt?) I use about a roll a week, and I think I use a lot of toilet paper. So even with a number of people in a household, it shouldn't take that many to make it through the crisis.

Rawknees'Turbo 03-09-2020 08:52 PM

I've heard that pNutz uses two rolls, the supersized ones, per squat!!!

cabmandone 03-10-2020 02:54 AM

I have a contingency plan for when the TP runs out. I've been hoarding old T shirts for just such an event!

p911dad 03-10-2020 04:22 AM

I read something about a Strategic Toilet Paper Reserve, the gov't maybe grabbing it all and storing in a big secret (of course) warehouse in the Mojave..

That’s a winner!

stomachmonkey 03-10-2020 06:13 AM

Among other things I get TP delivery from Amazon on the regular.

Already had a nice stockpile.

GH85Carrera 03-10-2020 07:04 AM

We just returned from a run to Sam's. Primary we go for fruit. I needed a case of the blue shop paper towels so I went down the cleaning supplies aisle. I got the blue shop towels, but it was amazing to see huge areas with no product. There was not a drop of Clorox, hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes or any of that type of product.

We got our fruit, and I even got some Sumo oranges, one of my favorites.

It was the cycle for a new batch of t-paper for us. We would not have enough to last until our next regular trip to Sam's. That was in plentiful supply, so we are stocked up for many months.

mepstein 03-10-2020 10:34 AM

I don’t get the hand sanitizer or water shortage. Soap still works fine and there’s no reason the taps would run dry. People are confusing.

Racerbvd 03-10-2020 10:42 AM

I picked up a pack of Northern TP, just like the auctioned, and I thought I played too much at $17, but I'm almost out, so there you go.

Tobra 03-10-2020 10:42 AM

It is because people watch too much TV.

As long as the zombies are not vectors for the Kung Flu, it will be fine.

Sooner or later 03-10-2020 11:29 AM

I just bought a couple of packages of disinfectant wipes. Shelf was half full. Didn't need TP but shelves were full and several end cap displays full.

This.

They don’t call it “the idiot box” for nothing.

The hysteria is ridiculous and reinforces my already long-standing belief that most people are either idiots or sheep led around by mass media, or both.

It’s quite disheartening really.

RWebb 03-10-2020 12:26 PM

Women.

That's the reason.

Brilliant! Stocking up for when the sh.t hits the fan!!... and the carpeting... and the walls... Cleanup in isle three!!

rusnak 03-10-2020 08:18 PM

I have a male employee who uses a metric sh!!t ton of toilet paper. I know because he started using my office restroom. He would leave it messy with piss on the floor, pubes on the bowl, and water everywhere after he left. I totally banned him not only from my restroom, but my office completely. TP started lasting twice or three times as long, and stays clean. Only me and 2 other people use it, one being female. Otherwise I was going to put a biometric lock on the door.

Price Gouging laws are going into effect now.

A local retailer is selling lysol for $14.99/can, mini-mart place.

If there were anti hoarding laws there would be no need to price gouging laws....
