Where are all the stainless steel toolboxes?

I saw lots of stainless steel toolboxes on sale at Lowe’s and Home Depot before Christmas. Now, nothing in stock. I had heard Costco had a decent set, but a search shows nothing.

Being on the coast, my set is showing it’s 20 years and it’s time for a new set up.

Any reasonable price stainless steel toolboxes out there?

The old box.

Lots of choices these days. You should research online.

Many I saw were made in China...that may be a partial reason.

I’ve been looking online. Maybe my Googlefu is weak today. What is saw were 6’ and 8’ lower boxes and that’s nice, but too wide. 48” or maybe a little more would work. Chest and roll away in st st.

KOBALT makes some pretty nice ones and if you really don’t need a SS one, Harbor Freight’s boxes are really good for the price. They (HF) are highly rated over on Garage Forum.

Exactly. You have two very excellent toolboxes there. Find a middle box to match your current chest and top box and you will be soooooo much better off than with anything from the big box stores.....

Actually, the middle box is only five years old. The top and bottom are 20+.

I just have too many tools for my boxes and I hate seeing the boxes with rust and paint chips. Instead of organized, the tools are stacked up in the drawers and some tools in plastic boxes are on the shelf.

Which reminds me, since we are moving, I’m getting rid of a few things. Anyone want a free trailer tongue scale or a tire pyrometer?

I’ll try to post pix.

Was at my mechanic's this week when the Snap-On guy stopped by. My mechanic picked up a new roller cart style toolbox. I think it was used. Talked him down to $175.

I think the Costco ones were gimmicks. OK if used in a climate controlled environment and light duty. I was going to get one to build into my wife's bathroom cabinets for all the drawers but ended up with a CM machinist's box with 9 drawers in a 30" width box. All ball bearing. And it locks.

I've seen some where the only thing that is S.S. is the front and sides of the box. Not the entire drawers; bottoms, sides etc. Buyer beware.

Seems to be the way the market has gone with toolboxes. I was in Menards the other day and noticed almost everything they had on display were 5 or 6' boxes.

My snap on guys are mad at me. I have not been buying. They seem miffed
I was trying to explain to them, that for the last 25 years, I have had a payment to the tool truck, usually a home mortgage sized payment .
I paid off a big purchase last spring, and I told them that I really wanted to float for a while and not make any big purchases . Try to spend that money on other places in my life . Those guys pound me like they are used car sales men.
Tried to sell me a wrench set for $800.00 last week.
So glad, that part of my life is behind me . no more $15,000.00 dollar tool boxes for me . Ever
