What changes have you noticed in day to day life since the onset of the Kung Flu?
I have not actually seen much myself. Sold out of hand sanitizer, and there was a smaller mountain of jumbo packs of toilet paper at the warehouse retail outlets(Sam's Club and Costco) At the hospital, there are stations at the entrances and at the elevators with hand sanitizer and masks. No masks there now, but the hand sanitizer is still there.
I have heard about a lot of things, cancelling of concerts and sporting events, easing of FAA enforcement regarding rules about airlines flying 80% of their routes. They closed all the grade schools in a school district near here, after on of the kids at the school may have been exposed. I have yet to see someone wearing a mask outside the hospital and things look pretty normal on the street. I think it is hurting the beauty parlor near the office, as their parking lot seems less full, but that is a pretty nebulous metric. Any of y'all seeing anything, more zombies roaming the streets or anything?

Both Walmarts and the Target are sold out of toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Cleaning supplies and canned foods are getting scarce.

Well, last night a pro basketball game was suspended indefinitely due to some idiot in Utah that decided to fly with his team.
All because of Covid-19.

Client's dependability (and my break-even income costs) made uncertain.

I use intermittent catheters for my condition and I use IPA to help clean them. Well no IPA anywhere so I'm running up my costs by using new ones every time. Those things are expensive!

Lighter traffic, deserted city roads, deserted restaurants, no TP nor sanitizer in stores, nobody at work... (SFO) Other than that, mrs Lincoln....
On top of that I work in IT for a huge hospital and the preparations I'm witnessing for housing patients is a little worrisome... |

Very little. I have bumped up my food stocks. Bought some hand sanitizer wipes to keep in my car. Very little panic buying going on here.

I used to be very active in FRC robotics. Competitions have mostly been cancelled or delayed. Local regionals & competitions all postponed.
My daughters wedding last weekend. Unexpected cancellations and no-shows. She was originally going to honeymoon in Japan. Changed last week to Iceland. Now she doesn't know what to do. My 90yo mom, clubhouse and common areas closed in her community. We told her not to go to senior citizens meetings or church.

I've noticed that PARF's resident clown non-MD can't stop making witless jokes about the pandemic. I don't think that even the other goons here are laughing, haven't seen any *attaboys* from them.

The serious answer is that there is no panic, anywhere. I doubt that people in suburban Seattle are panicking, where the outbreak is most severe in the USA. My sister lives in Northern Italy and is not panicked in the least, just concerned about getting home from a ski trip w the entire country on lock-down.
The notion that people are panicking is a narrative being put forward by certain people w a political agenda. The truth is more like a lot of American lemmings cleaning out Costco of hand sanitizer. Do people in the heartland not know how to shop anywhere else anymore? Is that plot a 100% success? I wouldn't know, I've never been in one of those big box stores full of Chinese merchandise. ![]()

Banned but not out, yet..

Could actually find lots of parking at the local mall, right next to the buildings. Lot was a third empty which never happens. The mall itself didn’t have many folks walking around, looked pretty deserted. A couple of the restaurants looked practically empty at noon, but then the local businesses, Microsoft and AT&T sent their employees home. Welcome to the epicenter.
Car traffic on the roads is down too with business and school closures.

I live in the city about 3miles from downtown Seattle. Havent been to the office in two weeks. Schools are officially closed for two weeks but word on the street is it will be bumped to 6. Downtown was very quiet last I was there.
I dont know anyone who has the bug and have not heard of any friends of friends/distant connections being exposed. My bowling league was packed as usual on Tuesday and Skiing last Sat was well attended. I am however getting tired of wfh as I like being downtown and working with my co-workers.

School is closed and the kids are all home. Currently through the end of the week, but I suspect it will be much longer. Kids go to a private school and the public schools are already closed for at least two weeks. EDIT: Local public school now closed for at least a month (Closed for roughly a month starting Friday, March 13. Superintendent Jason Thompson says schools will be closed through "at least what was originally Spring Break, through April 12.")
One of the parents at our school tested positive. Their whole family is now in quarantine A lot of things are getting canceled. One local Church is going to have an outdoor service this Sunday where they will set up in the parking lot and broadcast the service via low power FM to the people in their cars. WalMart, Costco, etc out of TP and hand sanitizer. My wife paid a dollar a roll at the 'Bargain Market' I work from home already, but the rest of the US and Canada employees are working from home tomorrow as a dry run for a future mandate to come. I assume this is just the beginning for the PNW.

When grocery shopping, liquid soap, bleach, TP and Clorox wipes are in limited supply. And just found out my upcoming trip to London, Normandy, Netherlands, and the Eagle's Nest has been cancelled, a bit of a bummer, but understandable. Time to start the refund process for the trip, airfare, additional hotel nights, , etc.

This is the Costco in Santa Clarita this morning. 8 police cars called for crowd control, people arguing over shopping carts and cutting in line....

On average, one person dies per year to mistaken 'shark attack'.
Over half a million to 'heart disease'. Probably more due to stampedes.
