I'm racing at NCM next weekend. No panic at this point. In fact, our series has come and specifically said there are no plans to cancel, so I don't see any issues.

May be more track days? I would expect tracks to fill openings from cancelled spectator races.

I will be at Pacific Raceways tomorrow for an Alfa club sponsored lapping day. They spend the morning with new drivers doing the basic car control stuff in the parking lot, much like the PCA's "Drivers' Skills" format, along with some time in the classroom. This morning event has been cancelled. The afternoon lapping is still on, but there will be no instructors riding with anyone, not even the first timers. Personally, I think that is over-reacting just a bit.

Champ Car (my series) has come out said they will not cancel, but they are at the mercy of government authorities...
I think we're all going to wear our helmets and balaclavas to the driver's meeting.

We just got in under the wire on Saturday. Our Governor lowered the threshold to 50 from 250 today, which would have ruled us out had he done it prior to our event.
As it was, no students who had not soloed were allowed - all were notified beforehand. No instructors allowed in any cars. I had two students, one of whom only wanted a check ride to advance, so he was good to go. The other had not soloed, so he was told the day before via email to stay home. Made for a weird day in the "A" group, though. I found myself wondering on a couple of occasions if I had simply missed the checkered - I was running alone for a large part of most sessions. I've grown used to (in the last few years) pointing by all the GT3 RS's, GT2 RS's, V-10 R8's, and such that populate the "A" group up here (in the land of Microsoft, Amazon, and Google) on a rather constant basis. Not so on Saturday - there were only seven cars in the "A" group. Kind of fun, but kind of spooky, in a "Road Warrior" post-apocalyptic kind of way.

A bunch of cancelled events here in CA. I will be glad when this virus thing plays through.

A lot of people are acting like someone is trying to take their lollypop away. That is not the case. We need to see this through together, and look forward to what lies beyond this little stretch of rough road. America can do anything, if we stick together. There are more lollypops ahead, if that is what gets you though life. Last edited by DanielDudley; 03-17-2020 at 03:39 AM.. |

NCM closed. My race is canceled. The Governor of KY found out that NCM was still open and hosting events and he specifically told them to shut down. At least it forced us to get our car put back together after the wreck at Barber in November:
