What are you going to do with your kids ?

Im sort of lucky here. Wifey quit the professional world, and works for me now . Our 2 year old, already spends a few hours a day at work with us, and a few hours next door at My mom and dad's place.
My building needs a lot of maintenance . Painting, lots of trees trimmed, cleaning up the parking lot, and around the building .
I predict lots of fights with my 14 year old. I'm putting him to work. If I don't, he will spend 14 hours a day sitting in a chair playing video games.
How are you guys planning on managing this ?

Luckily mine are 15,18 and 21. They have online classes to take during the 3 weeks off so that'll keep them occupied a bit.

Babysit their kids, take them to the office, have them take turns watching the whole crew.

My daughter had it worked out what the plan was before it happened.

This is going to be a real problem for a lot of working parents with school-aged kids. We're both in the medical field, so it's not so easy just to take a couple weeks off. We'll figure it out.

I'm fortunate my wife works in the school district so she will be off with him. I'm working 7 days/week for now too, or at least until we get confirmation we are getting an extended tax filing season (I'm guessing you can figure out what I do).

Started planning his activities last night. He will be working in the restaurant a few days and getting that spring stuff done. We also discussed adding another track to his train table.

This is normal spring break for my three, so far it hasn’t been extended (yet). My wife stays home so it should be business as usual. I’m taking the boys fishing Sunday/Monday and all of our outdoor sports practices are still on.

Fred, I'm assuming you will be paying your 14 YO for the work he does, just as you would an independent contractor. This will be based on the quality of work he does of course. Always more motivating when a kid gets paid.

We don't have kids, but my wife had to close down her school for the next month. She's trying to work out the free breakfast and lunch situation for the low income kids - of which are about 60%.

I pay him, I actually pay him pretty good. I'm getting robbed blind, and if he was a contractor , I would fire him, then sue him. Still money well spent in my book . He is super lazy, and combats me at every turn about working. I never quit . Whenever he asks for something, I remind him of what he makes an hour, and tell him go..
With my biz, the rentals, working around the house, and my personal projects, the kid will never really have to get a part time job. Hopefully , I can fill him with a bunch of different skills
It is rare, but I love it when I see that little spark in him after he accomplishes something .

Gotta tell ya. That one made me LOL. As for fighting you at every turn... welcome to teenagers. You never did that as a kid.. right?
