Flag discussion

I have a flag pole in my front yard with a solar powered LED ring on top that lights the flags up at night.

I say flags (plural) because I have the US flag above a MIA/POW flag.

Mine have now become tattered and I was looking at replacements.

Looks like polyester and nylon are the most durable so that's what I will choose for material.

What do you guys think about getting the Betsy Ross flag this time around?

I don't consider myself some kind of revolutionary but I am very patriotic. Would this flag somehow be considered disrespectful to other patriots? I know that sounds like a dumb question but would really be interested in some opinions here.

Thanks!

As long as it's a historical flag of the US...no reason why anyone should be upset.
I like it...not often seen.

Sooner or later 03-14-2020 01:32 PM

Perfectly acceptable.

Any flag that was at one time considered a flag of the US is still considered as a living flag. Treat it the same as the current flag.

astrochex 03-14-2020 01:34 PM

I like it. It should remind people of the origins of our great country.

Tobra 03-14-2020 01:38 PM

It does not seem racist to me, but I am not mentally ill, or not that mentally ill, so maybe I am the wrong person to ask. I like it

Wasn't there a thing with sneakers that had that flag on them that made people lose their schiff?

wdfifteen 03-14-2020 01:40 PM

I'm not sure I understand. Do you intend to display instead of the US flag?

stevej37 03-14-2020 01:40 PM

^^^ Don't tread on me?

Baz 03-14-2020 01:50 PM

Wow...thanks for the fast responses!

I went ahead and ordered new flags. All Made in the USA.

It's funny to read the comments on whether or not the flag is made in the USA or not. It's really a pretty big deal to a lot of people.

I buy so much stuff that I need for my household normally I don't put a lot of thought into where the stuff comes to. But I'll be DAMNED if I'm flying a US flag on my property that IS NOT made by American workers. That is certainly where I draw the freaking line.

I purchase both standard and Betsy Ross flags plus a POW/MIA one and....a whole new flagpole that will be a little taller than the current one I have.

Will post photos this week when they are flying.....

Yes - that was the intent, Patrick.

Baz good for you on insisting on flying a US flag made in the US . I do the same . I also fly a smaller flag for fallen police officers . Looking forward to pic's .

flatbutt 03-14-2020 03:09 PM

The only thing I can think of that may raise an eyebrow is if you flew the 13 above the 50...maybe.

Shaun @ Tru6 03-14-2020 03:17 PM

I'm pretty sure you can only fly the Betsy Ross flag is you are in one of the original 13 colonies Baz.

Thanks, Rick. I saw one on the website that had some kind of 'thin blue line' design - maybe that was it (?)

Are you serious, Shaun? That's doesn't make any sense.

If anyone screws with me I'll run this sucker up:

Heck....I might just do it anyway.....:p

rfuerst911sc 03-14-2020 05:34 PM

Yes on the thin blue lines .

I think its great, but today, no matter what you do, someone will twist things out of context and find it offensive. They need to turn off some of their offensive reflexes off. Yep, love to sees some pics.

In honor of Kapernick I flew Betsy and Gonzalez when I moved into to the neighborhood my new Texas friends loved it as they were a little concerned that we might have been odd Colorado commies moving to Texas. I’d post a pic but apple has totally confused me. Go to carrot top to see a Gonzalez if you aren’t familiar with “come and take its”.

yup
"Official United States flags are always considered living, active flags. From the Betsy Ross flag to the present 50-star flag, any flag that at some time was the official flag is still considered a living flag to be accorded all due respect."

I googled American flag for southern states and it came up with this one.

What’s wrong with the current US flag?
