Wow that looks like work Skip!
I moved on to my teenager’s car, I did the front and rear diff oil, transfer case, and bled the brakes. Think they needed it?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587174827.jpg |
I’ve been finishing the backyard landscaping .
I put in a boardwalk along the Koi Pond. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...acd96176c6.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8cde1dae3b.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3abdf5ed78.jpg And I started the tile for the original and patio expansion. I knew I would never match the original color so planned on covering both with tile. It’s pretty bold but I think it will look better after all the furniture is installed. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...43cdc09190.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...19dca14a24.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This is my 60yr old gas light in front yard. Last year I totally disassembled it sandblasted and repainted. It used to have a mantle style burner, I converted it to open flame |
Wife wants some minor landscape work done around the house. Wheelbarrow behind the garden shed was in bad shape. after 30 years of use it needs some attention
At the very least some new handles. I have lots of Oak remnants. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587322405.jpg whats left of old handles http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587322496.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587322571.jpg Some tablesaw and router time http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587322874.jpg Now To get a hardware store visit or online purchase of new bolts to put it back together |
I moved and re-piped the water heater. First step in building a new laundry room for Mrs. URY. Not really worth a picture. And besides someone will point out a did something wrong.

That is very cool. And very similar in manufacture as ones I recently installed (although not during covid): http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587417308.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587417308.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587417308.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587417308.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587417308.JPG These were made in Louisiana by a company called Flamebeaux. |
Mine is made by “Primo” which is also from Louisiana. Louisiana is the hot bed capital for gas lighting
|
That gas light is seriously cool. I’ve never seen one before.

I had a couple of old hollow core doors that were laying around that I’ve been using as tables. I decided to cut one into two parts to use for large ‘canvases’ for a couple of large paintings. Below is a pastoral scene that is 42” x 30.” I’ll probably start on the ‘smaller’ panel soon. Not yet sure what it will be.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587505851.jpg

In the process of redoing my office - had a leak from previous windows that stained the cork floors
and added some PVC panels for a accent wall... (The shelf has my router and server that I temporarily installed high so I wouldn't hit my head on it) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587559572.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587559624.jpg |
Those wall panels look great. MrsWD would never let me do anything like that. :(
|
Ditto. The wall panels are cool.
My daughter wanted a white wood wall behind her bed. I cheated and used the thin vinyl plank flooring. Cheap and easy! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c416265a99.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
^^^^^ Great idea. Did you do any kind of boarder along the edges ?
|
Quote:
No border. They are only like a 1/4" thick; maybe less. You could easily put a thin trim piece on it. I nailed them to the wall with a brad nailer |
Over the past week I took MrsWD's POS garden cart and gave it two coats of rusty metal primer and two coats of black. It doesn't work any better, but it looks nice.

Stained, cut, and nailed in the baseboard and door casing for the media room. I did the other side of the wall a couple of weeks ago. Photos of that ordeal are above in this thread.

Finally installed the crown molding above the new kitchen cabinets. The guy who built the new cabinets to match the old ones is a genius and an artist, but he bailed before finishing the crown molding.
I hate this kind of work. I'm not good at it - at all. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588032847.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588032847.jpg The ceiling was as wavy as a roller coaster. No way I could make it fit tight so I didn't even try. Also, the molding I had to use was left over from the cabinets that had been removed. I had only enough left over molding to do the job with about 5 or 6 inches to spare. I COULD NOT make a mistake. No do-overs at all. The chances of finding molding of the right profile and getting it stained right (by me) were about 0. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588033044.jpg I made this little jig to simulate the junction between the wall and the ceiling. I made some dummy molding to try out cuts to make sure I didn't make any wrong ones. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588032847.jpg By the skin of my teeth I go the whole thing done with a few inches of molding to spare. |

Decided to take advantage of the time and the beautiful weather to tackle that giant stump I've had since I purchased the house.
When it was all done, bonus, I think I have a nice big fire pit...So the next project is putting down some blue stone around the pit. It also means I get rid of some invasive plants with ground kill... Getting started http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588043635.jpg Removed some roots...Making headway http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588043635.jpg These wedges worked well http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588043635.jpg Half way done - Note water sprinkler lines completely pinched to left...will have to remove these or move them. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588043635.jpg Finally cleared...ready for a new fire pit! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588043635.jpg A lot of aches and pains the next day...but I felt like i earned them. :) |

I've built a steel workshop table for my new shop. Several years ago I built a table/cart for my welder and mounted a tool box on it. I removed the welder and toolbox and mounted a hollow metal door to the top. The door is a half door and is 36" x 40". I had to extend the base to support the larger door/top. I have plenty of unistruct so cut some to use as legs and added casters. Also extended the bottom shelf to the new legs. The stainless steel top was salvaged from a restaurant project I was involved with several years ago. I added metal drawers picked up here and there. The two vices are estate sale finds and not made in China. The vices are bolted on. The grinder, belt sander and mini-anvil can be removed.

Wow, you guys are really getting down to business on your projects! Looking great.
Pretty much done with the framing on my current project (laundry room/1/2 bath remodel), and should be done with the roof sheathing tomorrow. Next, build a cricket, new shingles, tear out the old flat roof and install new ceiling joists ... then build up a raised floor with new floor joists to match the height in the rest of the house. Insulation and drywall can be done anytime after the exterior is finished. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588213382.jpg I'll be glad when this is all done (preferably before the rainy season hits us), so I can get back to working on a few languishing automotive projects ... '66 912 motor clean-up, reseal & clutch needed ... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588214549.jpg ... and install the new 1.9L drive train and new tan upholstery in the '71 914 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588214791.jpg |

There's some very cool stuff getting done, nice work!!
One of my to-do's has been the clear out/clean up the attic. We had a new roof installed about 5 years ago now and the process of removing the OEM shake roof left a heck of a mess all over everything up there. I knew it was going to be an archeological dig of sorts since the collection of stuff pretty much only been added to and included some of my Father's most cherished personal belongings. He passed back in 1979. My Son and I took time as items were brought down to go through and talk about what we were seeing. Turned out to be a very good experience. My son did most of the heavy work and the cleaning... hefting a shop vac up and down from there was great fun. My dad was an artist, photographer, writer, tooled leather etc, etc. I got none of his creativity other than some level of ability to point a camera in generally the correct manor at times. My Son did get more creativity than I... Dad's leather supply (still in perfect shape) and leather working tools were up there along with some partially complete leather projects. Holding the mallet he used to tool leather with had an almost electrical feel... brought back the sounds of him working away and the smell of leather only increased the connective feeling. It's been over 40 years since the last time I remember him doing any leather tooling. It only seemed like yesterday. Also, some history. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588259479.JPG Travel info for Canada, the Boeing news from first flight of the 747 and a playbill from one of many plays Dad worked on building sets and running lights. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588259479.JPG I remember when Dad bought this metal detector, he was sure he'd more than pay for it with "finds". Not so much from what I recall- the box turned into a home for many of his effects. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588259479.JPG Also some of my history- I had forgot some spare VW parts I'd hung onto. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588259479.JPG About a third of the stuff is headed to the dump, a third will be donated and a third cleaned and returned to the attic- tons of room up there now... I'll endeavor not to refill it! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588259922.JPG |
Full service and some new carbon fiber trim pieces that I randomly found locally on my new acquisition.

Put the remodel work on the back burner and decided to enjoy the weekend off ...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588487181.jpg Washed bird crap off of the Ghia and the wife & I took a drive up into the local hills to have a late picnic dinner ... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588487255.jpg |
Lots of good work getting done. My back was hurting just looking at what Needspace did.
I’m following the Ford tractor resto. Gotta done something similar on a Bullet Nose David Bradley one of these days. Love that Karman Ghia Mark. To me, visually it needs something at the back end. Maybe the wheel wells opened up for bigger tires. |
I do have plans for the back end, but not the wheel wells ... I have a freshly rebuilt trans, new clutch disc & T/O bearing, and a type 616 motor for it ... lol

Mercedes 722.9 transmission service with the new and improved deeper pan and filter. Getting some practice with these, I just did my wife’s car a few weeks ago. |
