OMG !! That's so nice !!

Built a new stereo system for my truck
German handmade amps. I am now way overpowered, but sounds killer.

Now THAT is some Ford Blue, nice!
|
Beautiful tractor. I would not want to get that dirty again! :D
|
Hydrostatic drive lawn tractor !! Reminds me of my dad's early 70s Montgomery Ward "Garden Mark", "Ward's Best". That thing was built like a tank.

But its all good. Others are exercising, running in circles or lifting iron, so look at it as a good workout! :) G |

Had some leftover ceramic coating from a friend who did my boat, so I cleaned and ceramic coated my calipers and inner wheel barrels. Hoping it makes them easier to clean. Also did a full brake job front and rear, the fronts were triggering the wear sensors and the rears were about 30%. I went with Stoptech carbon ceramic pads and like them so far. |
Great job on that little tractor. Now are you going to take it out and get it dirty?
|
Your tractor is really cool. I almost purchased a restored Porsche Junior 109 tractor back in the 80s for $12k, but my wife asked where I was going to keep it, as we were already out of garage space.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588620923.jpg We're currently looking at some properties that have acreage and either a large multi-car/RV garage/barn, etc., so it's a feasible idea now ;) |

I got my brother's 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce with 66K miles running again. It had been sitting for at least 5 years before he bought it last Fall. The videos are my brother and niece on her first ride in the car. We have 4 kids between 20 and 13. It will be interesting to see if one of them ends up with it. |
^ Thanks everyone for the compliments! I've always considered restoring a car a lot of work. I've always considered tractor projects like this cheap weekend projects. This one changed my perspective. Took a whole month working on it full time. After this, I really don't know if I'd have the energy these days to tackle a full car again. Anyway, took several more "glamour shots"-
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588625648.jpg For my last free day of 'covid-cation', I drove it to a big ol' field, thought of my dad, smiled, and fired up the deck. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588625682.jpg Anyway, the LGT was flawless. She ain't so pretty now!!! (and I could have used that Porsche diesel!) :D |
First garden tractor I have seen that had the correct "stance" and running big and little tires. :)
|
^that is a seriously cool tractor.
Helped a neighbor cut some branches (he probably would have taken out the lines otherwise. er). We had both called the power company to no avail. He then took down several trees which shaded a lot of my yard and gave him more kid space. Win-win. Relocated the helper spring on the garage door. It was rubbing the entire length of the track with a horrible screech before. Added the auto lock bracket which were never installed. Clean and lubed every moving part. Buttery smooth now. Swept and blew out the garage dust with air and have a better game plan to organize everything now in a giant pile. Moved and separated a bunch of plants to where they wanted to be. Gardening is an endless revolving door. The rhubarb will get a bit of shade mid-summer although it's still in the sun. Got several packs of Gladiolus bulbs at Aldi (25/$2!) and some Lilies to add some color to the back yard bare spots and at the rental. |
Ok. I am humbled with the killer projects that you all have knocked out.
Here's where some of my time has gone. I bought some of the oldest, nastiest warped, nail-ridden white oak from the local recycling place. It was cheap, I said. Planed it flat with many router bits and table saw. Damn. Nails kill your tools! Glued up. More sanding, planing, filling. Epoxy coat sanded to 400 grit with a paste wax finish. Legs from etsy. I have to say, it turned out well. Mrs LWJ has been wanting a reclaimed wood table for a while. Problem? She wants perfection with imperfect materials. A challenge. A favorite part? I featured a square nail on the top. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1589551981.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1589551981.JPG |
^Nice!!!!
|
That table is cool. The square nail is a nice touch.
I've been lazy with pics but have consumed the last two weekends getting the boat ready for summer. In addition to the usual maintenance and cleaning I installed a more aggressive pitch prop for a better hole shot, and a Mente Marine automatic trim tab controller which seems to be a cool little gadget. Assuming it works correctly it will automatic adjust my trim tabs to compensate for the boat being unevenly loaded, rough water, acceleration, cruise, etc. Can't wait to try it! |

Phase 3 of our home purchase/remodel was to replace and enlarge the old pool decks, re-plaster the actual pool and move and upgrade the 30 year old pool equipment. But before that work could begin, I felt I had to deal with some problem stone walls.
These walls surround the pool on two sides, and are fairly traditional in this part of CA. Unfortunately, ours have fallen/caved in over the 18 months since we moved here, and had evidently done so in the past as well. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1590008369.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1590008369.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1590008369.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1590008369.jpg When we saw the house for the first time I thought the chains looked kinda cool. Upon the second visit it occurred to me they were there for a reason... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1590008512.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1590008512.jpg One of the more recent problem areas: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1590008574.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1590009697.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1590009697.JPG It kills me to get rid of these, but we do have several even longer ones we plan to repair. I have even found someone to do the work, but I had to agree to keep all the stone until he was done... Stay tuned! |
Luckily, my company owns a fleet of skip loaders, and I had the free use of a prtotype mini excavator. Regardless, it really came down to my guys and I working steadily for 3 days, with my wife helping me cleanup on day 4. Phew. We moved TONS of rocks!

And I don't know about your project, but despite having modern equipment at the ready, most of the time we just couldn't get around the fact that it was simple man-power that did the bulk of the work. Go figure... |

I made a watering cart for my garden last week.
The problem: drip watering to orchard trees that are 200 feet from the nearest spigot and random garden watering where dragging the hose to the plants takes longer than the actual watering. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1594143828.jpg I got this 16 gallon plastic tank from Northern Tool . http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1594143828.jpg The whole rig. It's powered by a lawnmower battery. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1594143828.jpg I got this 12 volt pump from Amazon for $15. Made a filter from a piece of Koi pond filter. I cut a piece out of the lid of an old storage tote to mount it on. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1594143828.jpg The switch is in a plastic device box. I used a fish tank hose throttle to throttle the water flow down to 1 gallon every 4 minutes. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1594143828.jpg Zip tied the hose to stick to make it easy to place and heavy enough that it stays where I put it. |

Taking water out of the pool? :D |
Making progress on my little car been working on since the covid started. sofar all just scrap i had laying around. Its not really the ideal drivetrain but i pieced together what i had. Going for something like a mg j2. Its a kawasaki 18hp twin vertical shaft i converted to horizontal. Going through a torque converter to a dirtbike gearbox and to a morris rear end I think its a 1957 mg not sure. I went with a transverse leaf in front. I want big spoked wheels on it probably make my own out of spare tires because motorcycle wheels id have to make my own hubs anyway. Just for offroad fun

Decided to get an Ebike and get back on 2 wheels again. Spent today putting it together. Lots of fun for an old man who can no longer do hills without some help. Riding on throttle alone reminds me of trail riding way back in the 70's. Definitely puts a smile on my face in these tough times.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1594267912.jpg Redid the laundry room. Before and after. The faucet is awesome for filling and rinsing stuff. Longest job was cutting in horizontal 2x4s for the wall cabinets. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1594268077.jpg |
Made a tool caddy box that sort of looks like a mini horse stall in the corner. 100 percent scrap wood, so most of the scrap wood pile is gone too.
Also put in a header on the adjacent opening. Tools are still piled up in the corner, but at least now they are not migrating into the walkable path as there is a 2x4 stop at the bottom. Used up a few hangers and hooks too. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1594643684.jpg |
