Any of you using apps for payments ?

I have had quite a few people ask me recently if I accepted Zelle, or Venmo.
Wifey just signed up to use venmo today . I have not had a chance to look over the details yet .
Any Gotcha's?

I know you have a business...if you do it through your business it cost about 3% for you...

I use it for my business but use it very little to receive payments...

I Zelled money to my youngest son when he was in college. We use the same bank - the and money transferred was instantaneous. He on occasions actually pays me back.

I have used Venmo too. As stated it takes a couple of days but I have had no issues.

Paypal is another way to send/receive money.

I use a bunch.

Zelle can be a pain in the ass sometimes.

Venmo is solid.

If you have Apple devices don't discount Apple Pay.

I use it for my kids math tutor.

You can even use siri for it, "Hey siri, Apple Pay Doug $50" done.

That vast majority of my sales are through Paypal. Have also used Venmo for personal purchases.

I use Zelle for bank transfers to and from my kids and we all use the same bank

Apple Pay for payments from customers as well as Cash App.

Venmo is hysterical, because you can see all your friends' business. Just scroll through and see how your nephew paid someone for a haircut. Your neighbor paid someone for dog grooming. Etc. I told my wife if I used Venmo, I would start listing socially embarrassing reasons: herpes treatment, butt cream, fungal growth removal, sex, etc.

But I find Venmo a bit troublesome because Mrs. Noah will start Venmo-ing people, and when I try to balance the checkbook it's a mess. The transaction on the Venmo app may show who and why. But in my bank account it's just a transaction number and an amount...which comes through a few days after Mrs. Noah requested the transaction. So when she makes too many transactions simultaneously for amounts she may or may not remember (and look the same), I have no idea where the money's actually going. Grrr.

+1 for Zelle. Quick (instant), easy, and free. Most large/reputable banks now offer it via their websites/apps. I avoid PayPal and Venmo (a PayPal company) like the plague.

Mrs Noah has used Zelle as well, and I'm happier with how it shows up on my bank statements. Much easier to do the financial forensics with that app.

I don't use any payment apps other than Paypal. Is there any way to contest a payment with Venno? Any fraud protection? I know when it started there was not.

Zelle is garbage - the limit of $1k makes it useless for anything that I’m going to bother doing a transfer for anyway. Venmo is a lot better IMO so I’ve gone over to that for things I don’t want to get CC cos involved in or pay wire fees on.

How is that even legal, privacy-wise?
I can't imagine using an app that does this.

Not sure how Zelle figures out the limit but I regularly receive amounts above $1k but had them balk at $5k on a first time transaction.
I get the same thing from Venmo.

I've used Zelle several times through my CU for family and to pay for services.

Not sure what your specific issue is, but I've sent well over $5k via Zelle, several times. It might have something to do with the method of sign-up and/or the affiliate bank you are using them through. I use Zelle via Chase Bank biz account, and never have any issues with limits.

If you didn't know already - you might WANT to know whom owns it.
So if you have concerns about paypal - you might want to know....

Who bought venmo?
In 2012, the company was acquired by Braintree for $26.2 million. In December 2013, PayPal acquired Braintree for $800 million. Prior to October 2015, Venmo prohibited merchants from accepting Venmo payments.

PayPal... I'm not going to sign up for a new thing if this old thing works. I use it to pay my kid's art teacher. Charges my CC for extra protection.
