Ours made it to Valentines Day. But I use a nice fake tree.
When I used to bring a fresh tree in the house my sinuses went nuts. Wasn't always like that so who knows what they feed the trees and spray on them before cutting. I've washed one before bringing it in but that made little difference. |

Hey - I like it left as a sticky. I don't have to do a search for the 2019 thread that way. I pull the old thread, copy and paste, edit a few lines - and shazzam! - the 2020 Pelican Gift Exchange thread is posted.

We were just walking by a neighbors house a few nights ago, they have a dead Christmas tree in their living room, with the decorations still on it.

Guy who’s house I built is renting it. The renter is a whack job. His tree is in the front yard.
The neighbors aren’t happy... |

When I was 13 I lived in the city of Xenia, Ohio. Our house was two houses from the end of a street, beyond which the runoff stream for the storm drain disappeared into a field. My ne'er do well friends and I had a clubhouse in the 3 foot diameter storm drain pipe at the end of the street. At Christmas irresponsible dirtbag neighbors would dispose of their Christmas trees by throwing them over the fence at the end of the street - blocking the mouth of our clubhouse.
So naturally we set them on fire. Several dozen of them. The draft through the system was perfect, and all the pine smoke was sucked out the street level storm drain grates. It was beautiful, and aeromantic. There were little spires of smoke coming from every storm drain grate, producing a fog of pine smoke over the entire neighborhood. It was glorious! To this day I think it was one of my finest achievements.

Think of it as Christmas taxidermy.

I toss a dozen or so Christmas trees into my boathouse fishing hole. Perfect crappie habitat and creates great fishing.

My largest pond (around an acre) has a few nice (transplanted) crappie that I occasionally catch on a plastic worm while bass fishing, but it's not large enough to really support both. They wanna spawn at the same time....bass win that one...oh well.

I have gone to strictly fly fishing for bass. I big crappie or blue gill on a 5 weight rod can be great fun. |
