Re-do of custom console panel
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1586789356.jpg
Here is a cardboard mock-up of the plan for the installation of the 934 boost gauge which is going where the OEM clock was. The new console panel will have the OEM clock (duh) and below it a new AFR gauge. The controls for the A/C will go as they were in the old panel. There is room here for other things and am looking for suggestions. I was contemplating a remote battery shut off switch or a toggle for (future) FMOC. Any other suggestions for what could occupy this space and add functionality? |
The new panel will not be grey as the old one was but rather matched black vinyl like the instrument cluster...

Thanks... always looking for suggestions.

Can you post a pic of the center console? Sorry - I tried to respond to the comments directly and messed that up. Learning my way around the forum. Interested in any pics of custom consoles / panels & what others have done with them. Working on a new version of mine now. Who needs / uses an ashtray? Cassette holder is very dated and not really that functional so going with the clock and AFR gauge down below with a 934 boost gauge in the usual clock position.

Completed the reconfiguration of the AJR console with the clock and AFR gauge after installing the 934 telltale boost gauge in the clock location. All went well except the AEM AFR gauge O2 (Bosch) sensor failed after minutes of driving... went extreme lean, like >16. Swapped with another Bosch O2 sensor and all is well. AEM is replacing the failed unit... so they tell me. The only other issue is the telltale needle is a little stiff and holds back the boost needle so I am not getting accurate maximum boost. When I move the telltale out of the way (>1.0 bar) I get an accurate .8 bar on both the manual gauge and the electronic gauge in the tach. Anyone have any suggestions for how to 'soften' the telltale needle friction? It looks like the outer ring of the center mounting post for the needles (where the reset key is inserted) has two indents for a tool to be inserted and my guess is loosen the outer ring to reduce the friction and thus lightening the telltale needle friction... correct?

I will run out to storage tomorrow and get you a couple pics of my dash. I have an Andial boost gauge (I think?).
That little nick in shifting is usually in from 1 -2nd gear. I had my rebuilt so no more. I hate to tell you, but I don't think worn bushing has a nick from shifting. Its normally very vague in the feel of the stick. I hope I am wrong too. Fingers cross for ya. |
Oops, I should read all before I post. I have the same boost gauge.
Tell me how and what you did with the or sensor for AF |
The console doesn't get in the way? I drove an 89 Anniversary and my leg kept banging the console.
