Federal Re-opening guidance
After watching POTUS and the task force briefers yesterday, the re-opening plan seems really balanced and sane IMHO.
I give great credit to POTUS for endorsing a very fair plan. What is everybody else's thoughts? |
It is the way it should be. Give guidance to the states and let them implement the specifics and time frames.
Pretty much as I expected. |
Sooner:
POTUS said he has the tools to enforce that guidance if not followed. Do you think he will/would? |

I don't see any state going very far outside what was shown yesterday. I am sure there would be some pushback from DC if a state did go rogue. Since it was left to the states on how and what they shut down it should be up to the states on how and when to start up. Feds should set guidance. They did a good job of that. |

I could possibly see Nevads/Vegas bucking the trend. Their mayor is already wanting them opened up.
Casinos being shut down has decimated the economy. And it is going to be damn hard to fire up the casinos since they get a check mark in every bad box related to high rates of spread. Huge amount of traffic moving in and out of Vegas. |

Our President, like it or not, is seeing the MASSIVE risk of not getting back to business. Some Governors would rather screw the economy than allow Trump to go into the 2020 election with a strong, functional economy. It's disgusting. But this is too close to a PARF thread to comment any further. |

I don't see anything that you suggest is actually happening. |
Some folks really do have TDS...don't they Island ;)?
In NC it really has to be done by area/county....won't be consistent and shouldn't be. Testing....getting there... but not there yet imo. My hometown just "cancelled" (instead of the earlier postponement) their semi-annual furniture trade show (largest in the world)....and they should have. The guidelines are good imo. But it's just not the Fed's call.... We're gonna get there...slowly. My concern is that when another "hotspot" does appear the "reins" won't be tightened....time will tell. |
It’s logical that governors will follow federal guidelines. It provides a built in scapegoat in case it doesn’t go well. And besides, it’s not easy being a leader.

I am a firm believer in data to make decisions , in my opinion we currently don't have enough data ( testing ) to make solid decisions . We have tested one percent of the population that is not a large enough sample. I am guessing ten percent gives enough data to make informed decisions . There will never be a decree that we are 100 percent sure everyone will be just fine but with good solid data smart decisions can be made .

^^^^ Totally agree....NC is getting there I do believe....hopefully ;)

We don't have a month to wait. We have data showing daily cases and deaths going down. Once we slowly reopen state by state we will need testing, and more important, tracking of new case contracts. If we are only testing to put another chalk mark in a column we are wasting our time. It will be a labor intensive task. Oklahoma has a volunteer network, Ready Help Go that will go into place once we back off of limitations. I threw my name in the pot yesterday. Hopefully there will be things I can do from home to help out. Hello Phil, On behalf of Governor Stitt and the Department of Human Services, we thank you for signing up from the safety of your home. We know it’s easy to feel helpless in a time of national crisis. We also know it’s difficult to know how to help your neighbor and abide by social distancing. But by simply letting us know your skills and your contact information, you’ve already done your community a great service. We are so grateful for courageous Oklahomans that raise their hand when needed most. We will connect you to opportunities to volunteer your time and skills when it’s safe to do so using your preferred contact method. Until then, we encourage you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram as we continue to roll out new information about Ready. Help. Go. Keep an eye out for another update from Ready. Help. Go. in about a week as we continue to learn more about our state’s needs and how you are uniquely equipped to help. Thank you. |
Our gov announced NC's strategy several days ago. It's definitely tied to testing and tracking....and not going to happen suddenly. The Fed may give guidelines....but they've changed their tune imo.
The FED isn't driving NC's bus...that's for sure. |

Seriously, it's kind of funny, some who were top-down globalists not so long ago are now demanding that local government is the only authority. Abra-frick'n-cadabra...:D |

We need the feds help, but they can't lead NC from behind either. It's not political to me....we will do it better than what the feds are proposing...we're smarter :D |
