Matco toolbox parts

After buying my Matco 4s toolbox, I’d like to swap some of the taller #3, 4 and 6 drawers for more shorter #2 drawers. The part number is 4225R-055 but the Matco site is useless. A call to Matco was a bust when the guy I needed was out for awhile. A google search turns up very little. The local toolbox truck guy won’t call me back.

In the link below, I’d like to swap the number 3 drawers for number 2 drawers.

https://www.matcotools.com/productassets/web-documents/4325RP-DDB_PartsBreakdown_01.pdf

Anybody know how to get replacement drawers?

I have not seen a Matco guy in 20 years . My first, second, and third toolboxes were all matco. Old school. Super tall with a middle box and 2 side lockers .
I used to ride with my matco guy . An old dude on an xr500, I had to work my arse off to stay out in front of him, once he would get past me, it was a shower of dirt and rocks, and I could never catch him again
I wish I had some better advice for you. The drawers are probably crazy expensive

I'm not a facebook user - but there is a MATCO Toolbox user group on that site. Maybe they'd be helpful. At least 1 guy posting recently is a formal distributor - he might be a good lead.

I can understand why the #2 vs #3 drawers would be sought.

I couldn't find squat searching on your part numbers.

You just need the elusive "guy" as you can't be the first to want to do this.

Eye candy outside my storage wars landlord's shop below. I snagged a couple of tools from this passed diesel mechanic's stash.

$7500 axing price. $15k box.

Find another dealer in your area. That's the channel you'll need to through, the business is setup that way. You'll also need to meet him in person- to exchange information. They're not going to research/ order parts unless you're there and give him a sizeable deposit.

Here's a couple of alternative ideas, just playing around

I've never been a huge fan of those ultra deep drawers. They always just become a lost cave where you might reach in a hand and pull out a bloody stump, (to quote Peter Egan)

I’ll give Matco another call next week. Someone has to know. Plus, maybe there is another toolbox truck around here.

I’m not on Facebook, but I’ll do a search. I did join Garage Journal, so I’ll post there.

I doubt it, but maybe another toolbox mfg has drawers to fit.

No doubt, they won’t be cheap but I got a good deal on the box and the shorter drawers will be better in the long run.

Thanks, guys.

I just sent a request in to join a MATCO Facebook discussion group. Looks like there is activity there but you have to be let in to see the discussion.

I'll post your question when I get clearance.

You are welcome Request still pending. Suspect a single moderator who may have a life.

I have to say that monstro box I posted has some drawers that are flat out silly big. Maybe in a big independent shop locking stuff down would be important but for an individual with a tool box fetish the stuff that would fit in those drawers would sit nicely on a heavy duty rack from Sam's Club or Costco.

I did the same thing with my new at the time snapon box. They delivered a new box and it had a big dent in one corner, so they delivered another one and left the first one here for a couple of weeks. Hmmm, I think I'll swap out the big ones for smaller ones, that's the ticket, being the donor was already damaged. The dealer picked up the box without much fanfare and i think they charged me about $400 for the swapped drawers.

Looks good, JW.

I spent several hours last weekend and today organizing and consolidating the top two drawers. Looks much better.

Posted the question on Facebook. Blanket response was to call the dealer.

One guy mentioned the upper right drawer was the power drawer so not sure if that messes with the function of the box to replace with a #2.

Thanks, Bob. No power drawer on my box. It does have 2 USB charging ports and an outlet at the top left. It’s from 2015 but looks new.

UPDATE:

Talked to the guys at Matco and ordered 6 drawers and guides. $2K! They didn't charge shipping of ~$200. What a guy...

Fred was right. They weren't cheap, but the box will have plenty of drawers now.

What it will look like now.

What I wanted, but just couldn't pull the trigger on four more drawers. Maybe later...
