One night, back in the day, I went to Ford Auditorium, Detroit, Mi to see headliners T-Rex bang a gong whose opening act was The Doobies. Many in attendance were on their feet but left after T-Rex’s second song which nobody recognized. I’m gonna say it was the year of Our Lord, 1972.
The Doobies are being inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame in November, 2020. |

Great song. I remember my neighbors when I was a college freshmen were playing it. CA surfer dudes- they'd sing along with Black Water.
