Staying inside the lines

Because there is no day care these days, I've been sitting my grand daughter three days a week and helping her with a sort of pre school learning thing. I'm not too good at it, but I can stay inside the lines while coloring real well, oops I mean SHE can stay inside the lines real well. We're getting along pretty good. Gotta go!

Quite the learning process. I guess you have to be good at something.

Adorable!

You're a lucky guy to be taught by such an accomplished instructor!

We (my wife mostly) have been watching our first grandson since he was 3 months, and now watch him and the second grandson. The first just turned 4 last week and the other turned 1 about 6 weeks ago. She watches them Mon - Fri. Our daughter works nearby in the medical field, so the hours have varied from the occasional half day up to the longest day at >16 hours. It used to avg about 11-12 hours a day, but for the past year, it's been more like 9-10 hours per day. It's great to have the kids around, they are great kids who are happy >95% of the time and a joy to experience. It's also nice to be able to hand them back to their mom, especially at the end of long days or days when one or both have been grumpy for whatever reason.

I presume she is handing you your ass at Candyland and Go Fish.

Their little brains are like sponges.

For example:

Say you were purchase a book by HA Rey(of Curious George fame) called The Stars, a new way to see them and a flashlight with a red filter on it. You teach her where to look for planets and how to identify Orion's belt, or whatever. She will remember everything you tell her and be able to point out Jupiter and its moons to you 10 years from now and you will ask her, "How do you know that?" She will say, "You taught me."

Try it out on whatever subject you like, you'll see.

Yeah, especially Candyland, but I'm certain she cheats.
