Seems to me that if I’m wearing a N95 mask, have good hand hygiene, and am not shoulder to shoulder with others, I should be able to spend any reasonable amount of time in a retail business without too much risk.

Businesses where you can’t wear a mask, like restaurants, gyms (maybe some can exercise in a N95), dentists - those are more worrisome. I’d want pretty good distance from others and lots of fresh air - an uncrowded restaurant patio, say.

A mask won't help you, it only prevents you sopreading the virus to others. The virus can get to you via the eyes too.

I honestly think that mask use is worthless for self protection. But the requirement can make sense if the virus is spread by those without any symptoms or post recovery. I say “if” because the reporting on COVID is so unreliable.

An N95 will help considerably. And while I expect CV can get to your eyes, lungs with high viral loading seem to be where major problems happen.

Do you have any links to articles on any corona viruses entering through the eyes?

I posted a research article on eye infection by SARS-COV-2 in the main 'no joke' thread

I think John is likely right; the issue is risk abatement

An N95 mask obviously helps the wearer a lot, otherwise there’d be a lot more sick doctors and nurses.

A cloth mask is, I think, a little help to the wearer but more of a help to others if the wearer is ill.

I carry a cloth mask but if going into a grocery store or similar place, I wear a N95 under the cloth mask.

Eye Protection seems like an obvious thing. If you wear glasses, you are "probably" OK. I wear safety glasses since I don't wear regular glasses.

I also wear washable gloves. I picked these up from Amazon, 12 pairs for $13.99

This virus is a control device to gauge our response to an Unconstitutional Lock Down.
