Inspected by labels

I get nice emails from customers all the time when they get their stuff back. Now with two new techs, I want customers to know who did the work on their parts. Hopefully, the emails will reflect that... Tyler did a great job...

Would a little note in the box from the tech who did the work, signed, be goofy or appreciated do you think? Just looking for more ways for them to hear "great job".

I want them to get this email (because one of them did the work), even if I get it. What do you think? Sharing it doesn't seem enough.

Shaun,

Just wanted to let you know all the parts arrived safe and sound yesterday. My wife and I enjoyed opening all the parcels and we're stunned at the quality. She wants the fan re-done on her car now, and already started looking at colors!

Thanks for a great job and looking forward to more in the future. Have a great weekend!

Thanks

Almost any employees likes to hear the "good job" from the customer as long as they know the boss heard the compliment as well.

So yea, good idea.

Sounds like a great idea to me! Is the tech that did the work also the one who packs it? If not...mebbe a note from both?

If any sort of kudos are sent to a manager where I work, I think it's always shared with the employee at least, and sometimes the group. My company even has a feature where someone can recognize someone else by filling out a web page and submitting it. I think it probably goes to the person's manager or maybe a couple of levels of manager and that sort of thing.

Only the most jaded individual doesn't want to hear good feedback from his boss, and his clients. I would appreciate that !

I think the note would be great. It has to be personal and say something about that particular job. Generic thank yous are worse than no thank you at all.

I used to nominate 3 employees a year for the International Automotive Media Awards in design, writing, or photography. It cost $300 for each nomination but it was a great motivator and helped my employees understand how much I appreciated their work.

Shaun. Also how about a note from the person who did the work accompanying the order shipped. It could be things like saying how the tech hopes the customer is happy and maybe a little detail comment about any extra things they had to do to make it come out right.

Marv is onto something here.

Each tech can have note cards made up ahead of time with their own personal message and signature.....along with company address/contact info (email) if the customer wants to send a note of gratitude. The note card goes into each parcel before sending out to customer.

Why not have that email address be one shared by all employees?

How about have them just write a short custom note with signature on the inside flap of the box? Something along the lines of how Epstein tools will draw something on the shipping box upon request.

In a past life, companies I consulted for agreed to place Made by and Inspected By stickers on their products to improve quality by increasing their ability to track defects and rejects. Employee raises, jobs and promotions were based on the fewest rejects/failures.

I like the idea Shaun! I think a worker needs to see or hear that they've done a great job. Maybe even make it a bonus related thing. You get good feedback from the customer... I give you X$ as a quarterly/biannual bonus. Workers tend to respond to incentives and a praise and incentive program would make it a win win for you and them.

I think it's a great idea Shaun. It gives a bit of "bespoke-ness" and personal connection to the great work you do.

Awesome, thank you all Gentlemen, glad to hear it's something I should do. I'm going to have Tru6 stationary printed so they can write a note. We put candy in the box (Werther's Originals... gold wrappers like cadmium plating), may get little plastic tubes to put the notes and candy in. Could be something neat. Also thinking of sending a t-shirt in a box but that will be phase 2 I think.

First off, that is the only way to do business. Well done.

I also let my engineers brief their work to our customers in meetings and teleconferences. It is fun to watch the maturation process when they know they will be briefing their work. Ownership has a way of focusing people and their energy.

My only small suggestion is to have cards for each person that they put in the package...with electronic contact info to them and your company. Cards are nice but I wouldn't use the paper version as a customer.

My wife's iPhone crashed a few weeks ago and we had to scramble to get a new one - she is a government engineer working from home and her phone is a key part of her life. The folks at Best Buy, where we go, were incredible, beyond great. They also followed up with a phone call the next day to make sure we were good to go.

They had cards with all the necessary contact info and I emailed each young man, their local supervisors and the corporate folks, also listed on their card.

It was seamless and I also have the cards of the two young men for future reference.

Best.

Any personal touch in business is what separates you from "the others".

When you get really into it, you could take PICTURES of the parts as they go thru the processes and then you could make a little CD of all the pics and include THAT with the parts.
Kind of a 'Here are your parts and this is how they got this way'.
