For the Appalachian Trail last Sunday. 😂 After selling the house in March and her job on hold working in hospitals, it was the right time to go. When we met 33 years ago, we used to hike sections in GA and NC, so it’s been a dream of hers to thru hike it. She did GA by herself back then. Unlike the old days, with no communication, she texts daily updates when she has a signal.

It’s going to a long six months at home alone...

I hiked potions of the Georgia, TN/NC AT over 40 years ago.

It would be easy to meet her in Virginia and stay in Lexington, VA for a day or two.

I hope to thru hike the Pacific Crest Trail when I retire. My wife wants to come with me. In fact, it was her idea. Can't wait! Let us know her trail name when she gets it.

I don't think so. They need it and they are not casual about it from what I have seen from a single association/friend. A little off kilter in an enviable way.

Jeff, early 60's, the brother of my shop landlord, hiked the Appalachian Trail last year. Brings his pot into my garage and one-hits while I fix his car. Had me sell his car before he left last year. Gone long time. Came back and bought an old Hyundai Azera that I replaced an upper control arm on.

Yesterday he texts me and says "Do you have that quart of oil you wrote "Jeff" on? My oil is a little low". He comes over, he needs half a quart to hit the high mark. He says I'm driving to California for such and such a hike.

A good friend and his wife tried the AT from South to North. She made it to NC, he made it to lower Va. I've done small sections. Lots of climbing. Not a lot of vistas. Takes a special person. Best of luck to her.
