Well, my track record for predicting weather today wasn't so swell but I am glad all went well.

The big achievement of this launch so far is not that it happened. It's that it was done so inexpensively to reach LEO. They used far less money, less time, fewer really smart people, and a much smaller percentage of the country's GDP than in 1961.

Ha! At our house we had a small B&W tv but I usually ended up holding the rabbit ears and standing wherever my father told me too.

Got the whole family to watch today, congrats to SpaceX and NASA, the world needed inspiration now. I always get choked up, knowing the risk, effort and tech involved, as well as the human achievement.
So happy it went safely!

Supposedly the crew named the dragon capsule “Endeavor” yesterday. Nice nod to all the ships that have carried that name in the past (including the SS)

Doug and Bob also flew together on the same SS Endeavor mission. BTW Doug and Bob are both married to women astronauts that have both flown on Shuttle missions. Last edited by tcar; 05-31-2020 at 11:39 AM.. |

I wish they’d call them “Doug and Bob” or something else... every time I hear them say “Bob and Doug” all I can think of is the McKenzie brothers, lol!

I guess that's what old men do. B##ch about change. Maybe if they would have called Schwarzkopf "Norm", I'd be better settled with it by now. I also need to see more rivets on the spacecraft. ![]() Still impressed.

We have a place on Cocoa Beach so went there for the launch. My wife and sisters went to the port for lunch. I said lets go out on the causeway and watch from there instead of the beach (It's about ten miles closer with a better view). All the old hens said"I don't want to get in that zoo" I said yes it will be a zoo but it will be an experience. Like the difference between attending a pro football game and watching on tv. I said raise your hand if you want to go. Of course mine was the only one raised (but I"m driving) I said the "ayes" have it,and off we went. What a zoo, cars as far as you could see.Found a little spot by the water and squeezed in and it started to rain. Started clearing to the north and off it went, beautiful. I have seen several shuttle launches and it doesn't compare to the fury of those monsters but still a great launch. Took about 90 minutes to get back to our condo (usually takes about ten minutes) and headed out to the patio with our adult beverages. We here the sound of huge jet coming and here comes Air Force 1 cruising the beach. It was going as low and slow as possible. I'm not a big fan of the passenger on it but just the sight of that plane in the air will send chills down your back.

I hope they have a successful re-entry and safe landing . Apparently the re-entry is what has Elon Musk the most nervous about .
