Written by Walter Tevis. published in a 1954 issue of Esquire. Tevis also wrote "The Hustler"...

LOL! Pretty clear that a victim of the internet is a well written magazine short story...
Few willing to take the time for an enjoyable read these days. Even one with a message in it's ending.
