Fed Ex Nightmare
So I go online to buy OEM parts for our Jeep from a Mopar online parts at at discount. There are several. I buy a set of 4 rear door hatch bumpers. The set I have now are beat from years of use.
They ship same day via FedEx. Scheduled for delivery 3days later, Friday evening. I just happened to have taken the day off working on projects. In the late afternoon I receive a text that says package delivered. Ummmm ........no. The following Monday I contact Fed Ex by email as it seems impossible to get anyone on the phone. I file a claim.......and wait. I get confirmation the claim is filed, but that's it. 5 days go by, nuttin. I call again finally get someone on the phone. They say claim denied. Seems I have to contact the seller. I say .........no.......have receipt they shipped it via YOUR service which the driver states they left it on front porch ( they didn't leave it anywhere) So the seller did their job, YOUR driver did not, it's on you. No dice they refuse. Total price was $45.00 At this point I've already expended past that amount in time/ frustration. Thinkin of calling the seller, pay by CC this time have them ship it via anybody else but FedEx |
Yes, FedEx is reputed to be a complete bastard to get a claim filed. When I ship anything of value, I insure it and it gets signature required.
You just can't trust the people inside. |
always pay by CC. I recommend Discover.

I once had some tools I sold on ebay 'lost' and when the box was recovered it was obvious it was 'dropped' so the wrenches fell out- (theft).
I filed a claim and surprisingly, it wasn't so bad. I got assigned a case # and within a few weeks I had a check. Moral of the story- secure and over tape everything to make the thief work for it, at least. |
All the shippers are great for 99.8% of the shipments, and screw up big time the other .2%.
Back at a former job doing aerial photography we flew to another state, spent an entire day flying a project with film and flew home. The roll of film and processing is over 4 grand and three days of flying in our Cessna 206 is pretty expensive. We had it shipped from the processing place via FedEx, first priority, get it to us at 8:00 AM signature required, we what it now! FedEx delivered our very expensive roll of film to a crack house, and just left it on the front porch and no signature. By 8:30 we were calling them. Bottom line, one of the supervisors went to the crack house and got it, and brought it to us, at just after noon. We told them we wanted a full refund for the shipping cost. Fortunately all the crack heads were still asleep or unconscious. It was just one totally incompetent driver that figured a crack house looked like our business that was on the other side of town. We got it on the scanner hours late, but we did get it. |
Fed Ex "Lost" a pair of bumpers for a car I was restoring coming back from getting rechromed. How to you "lose" a 6 foot x 2 foot x 2 foot box? Most likely stolen by an employee and sold online I'd guess.

I had sent a set of custom exhaust for my Cobra replica to Jet Hot. (That is a whole 'nother story) and when Jet Hot sent it back it got lost. It was going by truck from near Phoenix AZ to El Centro CA and after many weeks going back and forth it still wasn't found until they were going to have to pay for it. It was in San Louis Obispo. Overall it took two months to get them back.

As stated above, I ALWAYS pay with credit card when buying stuff online.
If it goes south for any reason, I make one phone call to my bank (they answer and I get to talk to a real person) and I'm off the hook for any costs. Let the seller fight with the shipping company, if they get it solved and you get the merchandise, THEN you can pay. With a CC. |
In this case you hate to screw over the sender when the shipping company screwed up.
|
Understood, but the seller hired the shipping company and not you, should you pay for something you haven't received?
|
yup - the shipping companies usually only deal with the shipper/seller

Helped a friend get a small business off the ground a few years back.
We shipped US Priority mail, FedEx, and UPS. The fastest shipping with the least problems, for the lowest cost was Priority Mail from the US Post Office. |
So I called Fedex about a shipment which was supposed to arrive yesterday and today .... of course, nothing showed up but yet I received a fraudulent text message claiming to contain delivery info.
The link goes a site registered in Hong Kong. Beware. These guys are "smart". |

Damn FedEx. I got to the end of an online purchase; noted they use FedEx. I bailed on the entire thing. No thanks.

Long time blogger, first time buyer from Pelican - $339 value
Fed-ex claimed delivery @ my house, No drop tag anywhere or package. Minutes later UPS arrives and delivers their goods as scheduled Amazon right after them. FED-EX dispute created & forwarded dispute # to Pelican, they stated they will refund, awaiting confirmation of that . |

Had a elative that was sending stuff to me 3 or so times a year, always USPS because they were close or would pick up for free. I was amazed at the prices for a 2' x 2' x 2' box of average weight back a few years ago — Like over 50 bucks every one. Some of the stuff wasn't worth that. |
My FedEx driver is a cure blonde named Ashley. I like her. Very friendly and easy on the eyes.... :D
