I have a friend from Taiwan. They are militant about masks. They were also better prepared having past en/pandemics.

I also think those countries are better aligned with the pull together can do spirit of the United States of 70 years ago vs. the entitled whiner, political babies we have today. So disappointed in our country.

“It is very dangerous to believe face masks would change the game when it comes to COVID-19,” said Tengell ...

Tegnell has argued that evidence about the effectiveness of face mask use was “astonishingly weak.”

I’m surprised that we don’t have more or better studies showing what effect masks actually have,” he told the UK Times.

Their immune systems were also better prepared having past en/pandemics?

Or are you thinking that their militant mask culture gave them an edge?

What's their age demographic, btw?

The heavy lifting on the Pfizer vaccine should go to BioNTech, a German biotech.

I'll take your word on that.

The heavy lifting on the clearing of developmental hurtles and fully funding said development goes to an American President named Donald J. Trump.

I will admit, I was more than skeptical on his efforts there.

Wait... did that make people cringe? - That an American President did something especially good?

Yeah, sorry... who else can we give this credit to, to avoid this awkward reality...

A gaslighting rebuttal of the Danish RCT is probably in the works by these ‘scientists’.

Yeah, I've mentioned that previously as well. However, it was a partnership agreement that had hundreds of millions of dollars going from Pfizer to BioNTech. And that agreement was only sought by Pfizer AFTER the US engaged with them, committing $1.9 billion dollars. So, as mentioned the "heavy lifting" for the entirety of the CV vaccine "race" goes to US taxpayers, via our current admin's action/programs.

As I've also mentioned before, Pfizer is not the only biotech that the US has thrown massive amounts of money at. There are several other players involved (Novavax, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, AstraZeneca, GSK, Eli Lily, Emergent, etc.), who have received BILLIONS in US funding. Pfizer is likely to be the first to the finish line, but they will certainly not be the only game in town.

As of today Sweden is second in the world at 366.1 weekly cases/100,000.

Sounds like they have pushed up their testing.

Here's this from Worldometer today (down to 4 CV deaths per day)

Dividing number of positive tests by number of total tests is a meaningless statistic because:

1) Testing continues to increase exponentially.
2) The types of tests employed have changed and have increasing percentages of false positives (false positive clinical diagnoses < false positive PCR Tests < false positive rapid tests)

In other words, it might be a somewhat indicative metric if:

1) Testing volume was steady.
2) The types of tests used or mix of tests used were stable over time.

Exactly.

Test 100k people with a test that gives 5% false positives, and you will 'find' 5,000 positives (that are not actual positives)

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - The Swedish government on Monday moved to cut the size of public gatherings sharply as it sought to come to grips with a second wave of the pandemic that has seen record daily numbers of new cases and growing pressure on hospitals.

Swedes are not sticking to coronavirus recommendations as well as in the spring and public gatherings will now be limited to eight people, Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said, down from a previous upper limit of 300.

“This is the new norm for the entire society,” Lofven told a news conference. “Don’t go to gyms, don’t go to libraries, don’t host dinners. Cancel.”

An interactive visualization of COVID-19 | 91-DIVOC

If you compare Sweden to USA, normalized by population, New deaths, new cases, and fatality rate are very similar.

Correct me if I am wrong but the president had nothing to do with the research at Pfizer . It is my understanding that Pfizer took no money from the Warp Speed fund . Pfizer has done all the heavy lifting on their own dime . Other companies like Moderna did participate in the Warp Speed effort and received $$$ assistance . I heard on the local news this morning Moderna is expanding their test parameters and are looking for teenagers willing to participate with testing . So hopefully Modernas version of vaccine is getting closer to being certified/released .

Just to illustrate the Swedish misery, I just got back to work after almost three weeks sick leave on account of that darn virus. Although I avoided fever and pulmonary symptoms it was still a dread. The closest comparison would be finding yourself on a planet with the gravity factor of Earth times three.
