I got this one recommended by the mechanic. LIke I said, I don't know too much about diesels. My thinking has always been bigger and more filter is better but he said this was more then good enough for what I need. I bought it to save my injectors. Before I bought the truck the old man that own it has injectors changed and the truck is bone stock but I wanted more protection. I lefe the stock filter in place. I am told it can be rid of but no reason to spend more money to to so. What ever has been through the Fass filter will go through the D max stock filter like a sieve. Good thing about the Fass filter is it cycles the fuel continuously as you drive. I tel ya, its hard to find a good diesel mechanic around here.

Also, there are other out there like Bullydog (I think). To me, if they can use this for a class 8 trucks, its good enough for me ( they also make bigger and better filters for commercial OTR trucks and equip). I wanted this because I have plans to drive my truck up to Alaska in the up coming years. Its breaks down, I am going to have a very unhappy wife, so its worth it for me to do this.

Yeah there are lots of brands of lift pumps available , I am surprised how pricey they are . They are just an electric fuel pump and a filter holder . I suppose like anything else you get what you pay for .

Final update 😁 . Went out this morning to see how the old gal would start cold . Cycled the glow plugs once and hit the key , she sprung to life like she usually does . So I am claiming victory on this issue .

I have talk to so many that think a lift pump should have been installed at the factory.

at 175,000 miles, are you still on original injectors. I know they are a pain to get at with your year and they go out.

I even have a filter magnate around the stock filter to catch metal particles.

I bought the truck with 98,000 miles on it and I have no idea if previous owner ever replaced the injectors . I have not replaced them under my ownership . I agree a lift pump should have come from the factory . I may add a Kennedy Diesel single pump and filter.

I hear great things about those Kennedy Pumps but unsure if they come as a kit including filters and water separator? By the time, you are complete, I think the number's are pretty close within 150 bucks difference. The reason I chose Fass is because I know its one of the best and most reliable. I hate car issues. mine is a BRZ, 06 the year before the smog BS that chocks them to death.

Everything I have read say's the Kennedy pumps are rock solid and very reliable . Kennedy sells install kits and I already purchased ( a few years ago ) a single head filter base . Don't need an additional water separator because I will retain the stock filter/separator .

A few years ago? Yep, I know how you feel, putting things together and actually getting to them is a pain already. But starting is another story.

I had someone else install mine. If I were to do it, the truck will rot out before it gets installed.
