Firefox blocks something I want to see

I have Cox "Gigablast" internet. They call it that, but max is really only 940 Mbps download and 35 upload.

This is the site they provide so I can see my actual speed.

https://www.cox.com/residential/support/internet/speedtest.html

It used to work just fine on Firefox. Now the big button in the middle that is the thing to click to test speed if just not there. Firefox blocks it. How do I unblock that? The red arrow points at what is gone with Firefox.

If I use Edge, it shows up just fine.

I HATE Firefox nannies! Let me see the site, dang it.

I tried the pop up blocker and that did nothing.

Do you have some other blocking add-on? I'm using firefox and I can run this just fine.

I can't images what else it could be. I can see it from Edge, so it is not a system setting or my antivirus or firewall.

I will dig around more in Firefox and see if I can find anything.

Ah HA!

I use Duck Duck Go for my search engine, and it installed the Privacy filter. I turned that off, presto changeo, Cox site works.

I things are running slower than they should, but fast enough for now.

Thanks. Problem solved.

It blocks a lot of adds, and seems to work pretty well. It is easy to disable, so that is good.

I guess when I go trolling for porn I will turn it back on.

I will indeed turn it on when I go searching for information on news sites or for parts or tools. If I go to my standard sites, I will leave it off. Or if I click a link in PARF.

Have you tried speedtest.net?

Is there something about the Cox product that won’t allow a 3rd party to measure it?

Speedtest has a dial that only goes to 100 Mbps, so it just pegs out.

Different results, but I can run the Cox test several times and get different results each time.

The good news is the Duck Duck Go privacy filter was the thing blocking Cox. It works fine if I turn that off.

That’s weird. When I run speedtest, I get over 100Mbps.

I took this off my phone because it’s easier to screenshot but with cellular data turned off this is what I get.

It is just the speed dial that seems to stop at 100. My speed is way higher than 100.

I've been using duckduckgo as my search engine for a while (not as an add-on, just the website). I use it most of the time, but sometimes for certain searches, I won't get the results that I want, then go to google and run the same search and get exactly what I want.

I already have all sorts of blockers and various privacy items running. I don't think you'll ever be completely private/anonymous on the Internet so I'm not killing myself trying. Even if you use a VPN, I suspect there's still some fingerprinting (browser, OS, etc...) that they can do to identify you even if you don't get linked to a particular IP address. And even if you turn as much of the fingerprinting off as is possible, then the lack of options will probably still be fairly unique.

I would absolutely leave it on for news sites. Whether they are related to TV stations, cable stations, networks or newspapers, most of those sites are some of the worst that I've ever seen for trackers and extra crap running in the background.

Here's a partial list of scripts running on sites for CNN (there were 5 or 6 more that didn't fit on a screen without scrolling) and foxnews. And it wouldn't be surprising if enabling some of these didn't add more to the list. Often when you enable one, it may add another 1-5 to the list.
I have the "noscript" addon running in firefox so I can enable or disable these. Also, besides no script and uBlock, I also have Pi-hole which would probably block some of these even if I was allowing them.
