Anyone been exposed or contracted COVID?

One of the head staff that I volunteer with contracted covid.
Medical advice from the health services. If you're symptomatic; go to the ER when you can't breath.

I was exposed on a flight calgary to Toronto very early in. Spent a couple weeks avoiding the world, nothing ever came of it.

I was exposed back in March but I've never had any symptoms.

This is the CDC guidance for occupational exposure. It is a simplified list, which breaks exposure categories into two groups- self monitor/ or go home quarantine. The chart is down near the bottom.

Sorry- not much, but this is how the event would be dealt with in a health care setting at where I work.

I was exposed and tested. They screwed up my first sample so I had to be retested. I never got it.

I was wearing a respirator and gloves when I was exposed and hand sanitized when I got back to my car. I’m thinking my precautions likely prevented me from getting it.

My wife tested positive for both IgG and IgM antibodies a few weeks back. The only reason for the test was a job change and they asked her to test. She works in the dental field. No symptoms. I took the same test and tested negative. Also negative with the swab test. Either I got it early and now am not showing antibodies or somehow haven't gotten it so far. Or, hers was a false positive. I did have a cough back in early March but otherwise felt fine. We had a friend almost die from it. Went from not feeling well to driving to the ER to being on a ventilator for weeks. It will take him months to recover. He's in his 40's and was reasonably healthy.

I never got tested, but I was in China, Mexico and on a cruise ship all in the same week in late November/early December. Worst flu of my life in January, last two weeks and the cough lingered another month. It was awful. But Mrs. Lee and I survived.

My wife got tested Sunday after attending a funeral the week before. She got a call from a lady that was at the funeral and she was positive for Covid and had developed symptoms. My wife has not had any symptoms.
Our level of concern is heightened after one of our friends contracted the virus. She was 48 and in good health. She passed away 8 days after the onset of symptoms. She left twin teen girls and a teenage son.
Insidious.

She worked upstairs at my job, and I generally had to call her several times a day for P.O. information. I found out this morning that she died at her home overnight, with no husband, or close family near by...so sad !

I'm sure a autopsy will be done to determine a cause of death, but most likely covid related.

Two of my family members back east on the mainland tested positive about a month ago. Neither had significant symptoms (headaches, low-grade fever, taste / smell were wacked out and off, tiredness and such...) and had to quarantine for a while which meant they used up all their PTO and won’t be coming to visit anytime soon which kinda stinks but all facts considered it’s not too bad and certainly could’ve been far worse.

I have been asking anyone I interact with whether or not anyone in their circle of family, friends, colleagues and associates has had Covid, particularly severely.

While a few folks suggest that they had a cold/flu prior to all this shutdown madness, no one has any direct acquaintance who has had the disease.

Not sure how many people are in the circles I have asked, its at least several hundred....at the alleged 3-5% infection rate, I would have expected a dozen afflictions.

Even at the 0.5% affected rate some experts are beginning to say is truly the case, there by rights and statistics ought to be a couple really sick people in the sample.

What gives?

A cynic would say it is a made up crisis, a flu that has hit seniors/unwell people hard and those make up the numbers and for the rest of us, not a big deal.

A realist would say that my sample is limited to 1% people who are younger and statistics being what they are, I just have been selective in my sample.

A liberal would say, stay tuned, round 2 is coming and be thankful we shut the economy down...THAT is why no one in your privileged circle got it.

Lost a good friend to COVID about a month ago. 68 years old...seemed healthy and full of energy in February when we had dinner at his favorite Italian restaurant. 10 days on a vent and docs were planning to wean him off when he went south and died.

I have little doubt we have all been exposed to this virus to some degree.

A couple co-workers and three clients have had it (ages 32 to 64). All recovered without hospitalization.

Wife's brother and his wife have it. They were in good health (59 and 40 years old). They were feeling bad and went to the ER. The ER told them to go back home because their O2 levels were good. Two days later they are checked in and in the ICU. All of a sudden I take this more seriously.
My circle is pretty small. Close family and one bike ride buddy. I go to the grocery store and of course Harbor Freight.
