you know we all need a buzz bomb

but as this thread goes on, I keep thinking this might not be the one

That color actually looks good on it.

Yeah...I like that color also. The photographer did a good job of hiding as much of that huge spoiler as he could.
$6K for ridding 45 lbs......I don't know.

I think the $6k bump is for exclusivity. All things considered, I’m tempted to put my name on a list and try to flip it for more $$.

Nearly $40k (about what my parents paid for their first home) for a Honda badge (other than maybe an NSX) is just plain idiocy.

The cost of cars in general has been getting absurd but this is particularly so. For $40k there are a heck of a lot better choices out there. Just one guy’s opinion.

Yes, it looks good in that color and yes, the trunk adornment thingy is stoopid looking.

Not a bad car at all but not $40,000 worth of car.

My thoughts exactly. First car to be sold with Phoenix Yellow paint in America since the ITR. Instant collector.

I would have been saying about the same....and then I started reading the road tests....

Piffle:

Honda shaved off 46 pounds from the Type R Limited Edition by swapping out the standard 20-inch wheels for a set of lighter BBS wheels and removing the rear heating ducts, tonneau cover, wiper blade, and sound-deadening materials. It also retuned the car's steering and dampers and wrapped the BBS wheels in stickier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber.

I’ll go against the grain, I hate Phoenix Yellow. Hated it on the M3 too.

stevej37 09-03-2020 11:04 AM

The front view of the car is excellent...they did a great job with that.
Sides are good.
Rear is a problem.
Interior is very good.

FWIW there was a Civic Type R at a DE I instructed at last weekend at LRP..

It moved along quite nicely

What are the heck of a lot better choices at $40k?

You know what is true idiocy ?
Paying $120k for a Porsche 911.
Not a bad car at all but not $120,000 worth of car

Does this trunk adornment thingy is stoopid looking also ?

I’m getting old and cheap because every new car seems too expensive. $40k is, sadly, not all that much money for a new car.

LOL, the chances of you getting that $120K back is much greater than dumping nearly 50K to be king of the ricers.

I think we are simply getting too old for this.

One major reason I gave up an STI as my primary DD.

I got sick and tired of feeling the way I did (embarassed) getting dressed up - sportcoats, nice shoes ETC to go places and driving around in an import car with a giant wing (like kids do) on back.

The price of anything is only determined by what people will pay for it. Is a Ferrari GTO really a 40 million dollar car. Evidently so, but I think that it is silly.

And that Turbo is unlike to drop in values any time soon. It would be a good safe investment.

sugarwood 09-05-2020 03:46 AM

You have to be a special type of brainwashed to think a $37k Japanese car is not a better bang for buck compared to a $120k German depreciating time bomb. A 2017 Type R is selling for $35k. 3 years old and almost zero depreciation said almost no German car ever.
