Exactly and, technically, they are criminals. Unfortunately, the gun haters point at the rest of us with the same venom that they apply to people who buy stolen guns.
Ammo is so scarce here that I am having my buddy scarf up any 9 that he comes by in the MPLS area. Plus not taxed per round and no sales tax to IL😁

Quite possible this could be the hold up on permits.

Murphy N.J. budget to include tax hikes on millionaires, smokers, gun owners and $4 billion in borrowing, sources say

The so-called millionaires tax — which would increase from 8.97% to 10.75% on gross income between $1 and $5 million. Murphy’s fellow Democrats who control the state Legislature have blocked that plan twice since the governor took office.

An increase of $1.65 in taxes on each pack of cigarettes sold in the state.

An increase of $48 on the fee people must pay to buy a handgun permit in the state and an increase of $95 on the fee for every firearms identification card, among other gun fee hikes.

Meanwhile, Murphy will seek to borrow $4 billion, sources said — which is less than originally expected.

Okay, my wife’s great grandma is turning 100. We’re heading down for the event.

I have a carry permit in a free state, Alaska. The grandma is in a reciprocity state, Idaho. But we are flying into Spokane, not a free state.

Call me paranoid. But I was thinking of bringing a weapon. Will this be an issue?

You can bring a gun in your checked luggage to most places you can't carry. Gotta be careful in the states that require permits to own/possess like NJ or NY. But I've brought guns when flying to CA before. Last time I brought one on a flight to WA, they still recognized one or more of my permits. They don't care at all about checked luggage. That's a TSA thing.

It seems to be making more and more sense.

I live in a suburb of Philadelphia, heavily Democrat. I am wondering if the word came down from on high to hold up issuing permits? Funny thing is this guy lives in my development about 1000 feet away, I have never met him.

It's been 8 weeks and my background check was completed 4 weeks ago. If it's being held due to pending legislation then they are way out of bounds. Permits are supposed to be issued within 30 days not 60.

IDK if calling to check on it will just pizz them off and send me to the bottom of the pile.

Slippery slope. I sent to unthreatening emails to the officer. I am going to a meeting tomorrow will have a chat with my State Senator.

Probably not a bad idea to call your Senator and have them look into it. They can keep your name out.

last year i put my Colt Woodsman Target .22 on consignment at my local gun shop. It didn't sell after about 3 months so I stopped to pick it up and was told I had to pay for a new background check ( new fee $45.00) & wait the 10 days, as if i was buying it for the 1st time! Well, i did all that & never again will i try to consign a gun. I'll just go to Calguns from now on.

Our senators? I'd be stunned if they helped. I'll likely start with ANJRPC and see if they have any ideas.

How did it go Dr C?

I'm getting a wee bit annoyed now that it's going on 9 weeks. I'm starting to think I should just call the bureau and find out wth is going on and risk being put at the bottom of the list.

It's not my first. Others have taken this long as well. I was hoping that since my background check was done 4 weeks ago I'd have it by now.

Honestly this is an issue I would move for. I’m staggered at what some of you put up with. I don’t think tyranny is too strong of a term.

john70t 08-31-2020 08:07 PM

Keep track of every stated local/state guideline.
Who you filed with and spoken with since then.
Their witnessed and verified responses.
All electronic communications of course.

Sue the ever living f out of everyone involved.
The list of defendants up the food chain might become a scroll..

jcwade 09-01-2020 08:44 AM

I just picked up a revolver yesterday.
From purchase to pick-up with background check was 14 days. Because the state didn't start the check for 4 days.
The hard part was finding ammo. But the local Big5 had some.

Not too bad for the "socialist" state of California that everyone complains about.

So what if I can't own an assault weapon, I don't need one.

red-beard 09-01-2020 08:48 AM

It takes me about 5 minutes to fill out the ATF form. Most of the time is poking around on what to buy...

Now that's funny. Here you can walk-in and vote. No ID necessary. Just verbally give them a name and an address.
