Your state Senator for your district. Not Booker or Menendez. Of course where you are you may have one that is just as bad. I am in district two so a little more friendly.

Sorry for the delay, just seeing this. Unfortunately I didn't make the meeting. Sent an email to the guy working on my permit this morning. I'll check in when I get a reply.

I fully believe it is intentional holding everything up. It's not the first time Murphy has trampled everyone's rights. We are only days away from increased fees.

How did it go Dr C?

I'm getting a wee bit annoyed now that it's going on 9 weeks. I'm starting to think I should just call the bureau and find out wth is going on and risk being put at the bottom of the list.

flatbutt 09-10-2020 04:22 AM

I spoke to a local FFL who told me that everything is jammed up at the state police level so talking to anyone without direct juice isn't likely to do any good. I am also friendly with the most recent police chief in my town and he agrees that there's nothing a working class lad like me can do. The fact that my background check is complete helps with the Murphy delay but it's just another BOHICA jersey moment.

The reply.

Good Morning officer Ruh,

Hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable Labor day?

It has been a few weeks since I last reached out to you regarding my hand gun permits. 9/7/2020 was eight weeks since I applied. I waited a few extra days to reach out due to the holidays. I believe I have been more than accommodating and allowed adequate time for any delays due to closings or a surge in application requests, etc. that may delay issuance. I am more than confident there is nothing in my background that would require any delay or additional research prior to issuance so I am curious why the hold up?

Would you be kind enough to advise when I can come pick up my permits?

Thank you again for your help and I look forward to your prompt response.

You, along with the 1500 other applicants that have applied are waiting patiently. I am working on the order that they come in. I am currently working on June.

And since this thread was started I've started on a new project that involves terms like binary, disintegrating, and hot-swappable. I even decided to go the transferable route. And no, I won't be explaining any further nor posting pictures.

Underground economy is the only way...

I purchased my first handgun long ago. I walked in, handed them cash, and walked out with my pistol. No ID, no permits, no waiting, no paperwork of any sort. Well they did offer me a receipt that I did not need or want so they threw it in the trash.

All of that was 100% legal above board and normal. Oh yea, I bought a box of ammo, 38 Special for $4.95 for 50 bullets.

Week 11. I'm friendly with the most recently retired Police Chief in my town, even he is waiting longer than usual for an FFL transfer.

Seahawk 09-19-2020 01:59 PM

I'd shoot myself.

Oops. Never mind.:D

carambola 10-01-2020 01:21 PM

just a heads up, you can now apply online;

https://njsp.org/firearms/fars.shtml

N.J.S.A. 2C:58-3e says that you shall receive a response in 30 days.

In a few years, if not already, social media posts will be part of background checks.

It will be the end of jokes like this.

Yes.

In future you'll have to say "I'd spoon myself"

But that doesn't sound to good either.

vash 10-01-2020 03:08 PM

catch me up. did flatbutt get the pew-pew-pew?

red-beard 10-01-2020 03:09 PM

Yeap, telling the wife your "going spooning with the guys", just doesn't sound right...

That letter really doesn't strike me as the kind of thing that would make anyone work any faster. On the contrary, I would think the associated approval might get lost or end up somehow at the bottom of the pile.

I'm afraid that I'm gonna be in a conversation, gun shop, etc. some day and refer to a spoon :D

THe first time I used the term when talking to my wife she was bewildered.

flatbutt 10-01-2020 08:59 PM

Despite my truck woes today had a bright spot. My permit came in. 93 calendar days, but wait. Two days for the second NICS check. I did get to hold the 686 today.
