You arrested a homeless guy for lighting a stick and tossing it on the sidewalk?

dude, we are in the foothills/forest that are currently on fire, in the midst of a wind event that PG&E has shut the power off over and if you read the piece the region is in a state of emergency so he's been charged with a felony. this occurred less than 20' from a lot overgrown with tall dry grass. i usually let the homeless live and let live, but with our state on fire i thought this was a good call to make. if you don't, move the F along.

Dude. I was just asking a question. Don't get your law enforcement panties in a knot.

When you google the address it shows a city.

Correct call and a good one. Thanks for preventing something that might’ve ended up turning into something bad. I hear it’s pretty awful back there (and still early in “fire season”)!

Thank you.

I'm not one who runs to mama every time I see someone doing something wrong - but when it comes to public safety - people really do need to get involved in some way.

I noticed this post as an example of someone who (apparently) did not feel the need to make an effort to do anything.

Saw this guy yesterday and so did my daughter. He was throwing things in the road in front of cars. He was trying to fight a UPS driver and many others. I hope he gets help. Does he have family looking for him?
Thanks again for getting involved!

Consider reading a paper or turning on the news. Sometimes these fires start small & Sonora, CA is hardly a city - it's in the heart of gold rush country and upper foothills. Good job to the original poster.

No you were not.

You were being a dick.

Sorry...you'll get over it or not. Your issue, your panties.

Well done, Juan.

Large fires in California when I was a kid always brought out the arsonists...my only bad dreams were fire dreams.

Maybe a little bit of a dick.
When I googled the address it came up as IL.
The guy should be taken to a physic institution, not a jail was my point.
Ya these fires suck.

At the risk of PARF'ing this thread, not sure we have publicly funded mental health institutions able to cater to their sort, hence more folks are out in the streets, or in jail.

I f'ing hate it.

Earthquake me, let's just get it over with:

We had a fire plan, our stations, we had goats to keep the lines clear, the house was free of overhanging trees. the whole nine yards.

My best to all of you.

You obviously did not hear the update....The smoke from the device was not blue or pink, it was gray as they announced that they would let the kid decide when it's ready.

Tasting smoke as I write this.

Bravo!

Yep, wild fires are a huge problem in CA this time of year with dry tinder everywhere and hot winds blowing. They most often get started by careless folks who fail to contain their campfire, ignition from hot car exhaust touching off dry grass, or intentionally set by arsonists or homeless. This guy presented an immediate risk to the community and needed to get removed from public space.

Great job, T. Those not living in CA don’t know what we’re living through at the moment. The San Francisco skyline at 10 am today looked like 10 pm because of smoke blocking the sun.

could not have said it better myself.

i did read ROD's reply before i set out on a motorcycle ride up hwy 108 this morning through a closed national forest due to fire danger and decided it was not worth a reply. im glad you & others got the cannuck straightened out.

also, thank you all for the kind words on what im confident any of you would have done under the circumstance. except maybe ROD
