Infareds were all the rage awhile back, until people found out you had to thoroughly clean them after every use, which obviously you had to wait for it to cool down scrub, etc. I use charcoal grill, with hardwood brackets I can get the temp to 600+ degrees

Asphalt- My infrared grill requires NO cleaning.
the infrared ceramic bed vaporizes ALL of the dripping fat.
It is MUCH cleaner than a conventional grill.

I highly recommend the Solaire 'Everywhere' ($319) or the 'Anywhere' ($469).
Made in America, Quality is #1, very solid.
stay away from the Chinese cr*p lookalikes.

I use mine 4-5 times a week and it's seven years old.
I had to replace the grill, but everything else is like new.
The best tasting steaks and seafood you've ever had!!!

I like that I'm ready to grill in only 5 minutes, that's a game changer!

I have an older version of this char-broil infra-red grill but it's not a table-top deal
https://www.charbroil.com/commercial-series-trade-tru-infrared-trade-3-burner-gas-grill

Things I like about it:
Easy, convenient, heats up fast and cooks fast and evenly.
It's predictable and consistent.
It's self-cleaning for the most part, and doesn't flare up ever.
Didn't cost much. IIRC it was under $400.
Easy to convert to natural gas.
it's stainless steel and I've only had to replace the grill grates once in about 8 years.

Things I don't like about it:
I miss the flame-broiled taste and charcoal flavor.
it can dry out and toughen meat if over-cooked which it can do quickly if you don't pay attention.
