Since '92 I've owned (and sold) about 20 porsches. Almost always had a track car and a street car.

I hated the body style when it first came out, but the 964s grew on me and my favorite to drive.

Mixed feelings, maybe I'll pick up a beater cayman or boxster one day.

A Cayman would be my pick. Convertibles are for young good looking people. (Which means I'd never own one)

And yes the 964 is the best looking 911 IMO... Singer must always be on the look out for them.

My 964 Targa is the only one of the 10 or so Porches I have owned I miss.

In hindsight I wish I had bought it back after the wreck.

I rode in a friend of mine's older Boxster last week and really enjoyed it.

Of all those cars I miss the 911 cabriolet. My daughter, now married, was 6 or 7, long hair, used to go almost straight up with the wind of top down.

However, if I had any regrets it was selling the cup cars and the Oates car before they took off in value.

I tried to go Porscheless a few times over the years but always got sucked back in quickly.. and agreed on the 964.. probably one of my most favorite body styles still...

I really miss my 911SC even though my E46 wagon is better in almost every way.

The 964 is such a great car. Just a perfect mix of old and new.

After my SC I had several Boxsters and they just left me cold. Great cars but didn’t ignite the same passion. Honestly I feel the same way about the Cayman or newer 911s, they just don’t do it for me. So I’m Porsche-less and likely to be so for quite some time, because I won’t spend $50k+ for another SC. Really enjoying my AMGs, they are a blast and have a lot of character, which is what I wanted.

Sold my SC three months ago and really don’t miss it. Never liked the color or the big bumpers compared to my previous early 911s. Now just have my 71 914 with a 3.0 which is a hoot for day trips. But on long drives it wears me out. The expense of multiple early cars with upgrades, fixes, etc took a lot of money. Don’t miss the expense.

When it comes to overall looks it's hard to beat a 993 TT. Too much money. The 964 C4 is a good looker. Actually I don't mind the 996 4S. All of these cars have great proportions.

I've had a ton of cars and, at the end of the day, there's inevitably something about each one that you don't like. I seldom miss any that I have sold. Playing with cars for 30 or 40 years can wear you out. Been there, done that. Other things in life....

That's where I am too. Changed the rusty bumper on a pick-up this weekend and realized why I don't enjoy wrenching cars anymore.

Picked up an isuzu amigo on facebook last year for $1k, everything works including the AC. Practiced fixing dings on it. It's kind of fun to drive an expendable beater. When this dies I'll probably buy a beater convertible.

I haven't driven the p-cars in a few years. Time to say goodbye.

I still have my Audi S8 but that’s the only car I own. I’ve been using a high mileage, beater 2001 Honda CRV that my sister doesn’t have any use for, just to have a little ****box to run around in and buy groceries, haul the dogs, etc. I’ll probably buy that from her at some point, she’ll never use it again.

The year I sold my Lamborghini, I had driven it exactly twice, for a total of 60 miles. One of those trips was for its annual service at my local shop, the other was probably a Porsche club breakfast. Kind of stupid to keep something around and drive it twice in a year.

There are days I miss my 964T, but there was always something that needed attention on it. Coupled with the fact that it absolutely ATE rear tires. I did put 20,000 miles on it in 5-6 years so it was driven often. I had the opportunity to buy it back from the person I sold it too, but paying more than twice what I sold it for was not appealing at all.

My 996TT was the ultimate highway weapon, comfortable and a single downshift and it would get up and go. I'd definitely get another one again or maybe a 997TT just for something different and I do like the interior of my 997 GT car. It is a good mix of the old an new, for those that haven't driven a 997 I would recommend at least trying.

That said, there's only one I regret selling, a 69 911E. What a perfect car that was. I have a 76 tub and a 2.7 RS MFI motor to recreate it, better, someday.

Other things in life sure, but it's nice to have a constant passion. I don't get the burnout others have.

Travel, food and 911s. Will never get tired of any of them. Can't even imagine it.

Maybe you’re younger than the rest of us. I begin driving a 911 as a daily driver within a year of getting out of college. For years, that was the only car I owned. I joined PCA, did every event my local region offered, went to Parades and other national and regional events. I bought every book they wrote about the Porsche brand, bought every factory publication I could get my hands on and studied the mechanical aspects of them for years. A 911 wasn’t a weekend fun car that I first acquired deep into adulthood. No, it was a different level of immersion for me. I even picked up one in Europe and traveled through Europe in it. By the time many of us here had just gotten their first 911, I’d been driving one for 20 years. 20 years into my car obsession, I also had two dozen other cars. On top of that, I had nearly as many motorcycles, as well. Eventually the tail begin wagging the dog and I looked for a return to a simpler life.

So, 40 years on, I still have an interest in cars bit no longer a desire to own them all. I will likely build a few motorcycles in the coming years, resurrect my art career and maybe travel occasionally to France. I will eventually replace my S8 with something else and maybe some day I’ll have an interesting second car, who knows? For now, I’m quite content.

We all have somewhat different journeys and we are all somewhere different on the arc of life.

Got my first car at 15, a 64 1/2 Mustang with a 260 V8, and now at almost 53 and 50+ cars later, I am pretty sure I will always be younger than all of you. That's another thing I don't get. Getting old, especially mentally.

Anyway, different journeys, arcs and all that, sure.

In all honesty, budget is the only reason I don’t own an air cooled 911. I’m confident I will own another someday.
