Koenigsegg's latest - 1,600 HP, 300 mph

That company already had the fastest supercar - now this!

The crank is milled/turned from a billet. Nine speed transmission with 7 clutches.

The Jesko

I like the name! "Jesko"... Is that from Jester + KO?

Another crazy arse car that will barely get used by their owners.

I could care less about the HP or the 300mph...but my God the technology in that car is insane. Boosted to 290psi? 9 speed, 7 clutch trans less than 200lbs?!?

And all developed by a guy who isn’t an engineer at a little company in Sweden. Aston Martin uses AMG engines for God’s sake, while these guys design and build their own engines, transmissions, brakes, engine management, traction and stability control, brakes, etc. Much of which is revolutionary stuff. It’s really quite amazing.

300 mph, but only for 8 seconds.

Then the motor explodes as you go off the end of the road and run out of fuel.

I think a 220 mph pull on the old Mulsanne every 3 1/2 minutes for 24 hours was a more remarkable benchmark.

Define "isn't an engineer".

What is the point to owning any sports car or high performance "toy" (including vintage ones)?

Not trying to sound like a snob, he is absolutely worthy of the title. But I don’t believe he was professionally educated as an engineer, nor do I think he had an engineering background prior to starting the company. Pretty incredible dude.

The same point as climbing Mt. Everest, or any large mountain. Or owning a Yacht that is over 150 feet long. Or going into space as a tourist.

Because they can.

If I had silly/ludicrous money, I'd be a Koenigsegg customer for sure.

What sets this particular car apart from all the other hypercars is its extraordinary performance envelope...and this is what you're paying an estimated $3M for. But there are few places in the world where this level of power can be exploited, outside of maybe the Bonneville salt flats. More conventional sports cars can actually be used as daily transportation and you're not paying a hefty premium for a level of performance that most owners will never even come close to unleashing.

A large ocean-going yacht can double as a luxury home and allow more than just two people to travel great distances around the globe in safety and comfort. Most of all, its extreme capabilities can be utilized on a daily basis for extended periods of time. Much more 'bang-for-the-buck' than a 300mph car.
