two weeks to go in my peak season here

I note the bad ones come with in two weeks of sept 1 here in s fla
not that they can't pop up when ever they want
but the cat 4 - 5 like that date/range
and after 9-15 we can be relieved for an other year
later ones tend to be weaker or miss

ain't global warming fun

When you take into account that the areas watched for storms of concern in South east US. Extends from The coast of Africa, across the Atlantic thru the carabean, across the Gulf of Mexico, plus the entire east coast of North America.
It's not surprising that there is one or more systems approaching storm intensity at any given time during the season in all of that area.

There doesn't look to be any serious threat eminent at this time.

It's great that Sat imagery lets us see all that is developing around the world, now it's on us to learn to interpret what that may mean in any particular location.
And not let the broadcast weather folks freak us out.

Cheers Richard

Stupid question of the day.....weather in the States goes from west to east. Why do these storms go from east to west?? They are above the equator.

Good question.

Answer: The average hurricane moves from east to west due to the tropical trade winds that blow near the equator (where hurricanes start). ... Normal storms, on the other hand, move west to east due to the strong jet stream. Naturally, being nature, hurricanes do not always follow this pattern.
