now that marajauan has been legal for a while...
any ramifications? i dont see crap in my area. same same.
i might smell a hit or two outside a pizza joint occasionally, but other than that, i dont see or notice a thing. i also dont notice where all that tax wind-fall is going? what gives? maybe i'm blind to it?

During Covid SiP, I have been walking around my neighborhood fairly regularly (until the smoke from the fires), maybe 5-7 miles a day. I cannot believe how many homes I smell it by when I am walking in the middle of the day/early evening. I would suggest it might be 5% of the homes.

I think edibles and vaping are more popular than smoking flower these days.
So little to no smell. |

In Oklahoma we only have "medical marijuana" but I doubt anyone at all of legal age has even been denied getting the card. Only Oregon has more dope outlets per capita than Oklahoma. I bet there are twice as many places selling weed as there are Starbucks and McDonald's combined in Oklahoma city metro area.
Several places have been busted selling illegal week for other states, and there is some weed that gets a fungus and it is supposed to be destroyed, yet it still gets sold. They were considered a vital business like liquor stores so they have been doing a booming business in recent months.

I have seen a lot of rioting and looting on TV in places where people imbibe significantly. I thought people were supposed to be more mellow when smoking dope.

I do t notice much of a difference here in California. I will say all the growers were a boom for the electric companies for a while. They have HUGE loads. And run basically 24/7. Lots have gone out of business now. I toured a couple places and while most of the guys running them look and act like Cheech and Chong, they certainly are not stupid and the operation is insane. Hospital level clean rooms, filtration systems, humidity/temp control and everything is separated to prevent cross contamination. Not to mention the security in these places make a prison look like preschool. They said with everyone and their mother trying to grow now, you have to have the best of the best to make money, and all products have to have extreme consistency. Actually very impressive.
One operation grew custom plants for dispensaries and they could monitor the plants by remote cameras the entire way...cameras in the grow room, the process area and wifi cameras on the trucks delivering. Could literally watch the plant 24/7 from seed to being dropped off at your door. |

Seen a LOT more folks with tolerance to sedation in surgery. Pot smokers need a large amount of versed and propofol to attain the appropriate level of sedation. Often have to change to a general anesthetic.
Is it legal in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois?

Recently sold a commercial building.
Last time we had a vacant spot, I put out my normal ad. Got inundated with calls wanting to open up a pot shop there. NO! My other businesses don't want to be next to that. Changed the ad to say we will not rent to a pot shop, it only slowed the calls down. |

Yep.... unobtanium too!
Was talking to a friend down in FL a few weeks ago... it's not legal there (yet). He said his neighborhood convenience store was selling "joints" kept in a jar on display at the register. He hasn't smoked in years, but said the owner unscrewed the lid.... and it smelled like good ol' skunkweed did decades ago. It's about illegal as going 75 on I-95 .... and been that way forever. |

I smell it a lot more. There are also a couple new neighbors on my block. A few times per week I'll smell it while walking the dog. I think the smell is a lot more prevalent now, than before legalization. No need to try to even hide it anymore.
There's also a lot of now-legal money from it. A friend who lives locally (2 miles away?) had the house across the street sell for $6.5 mil. The new couple who lives there are in the MJ business.

I’ve also heard that Denver is a mess from people who have lived there a long time. Apparently the homeless population has skyrocketed and there is a huge drug presence there, not just pot. Sounds like a colder version of San Francisco.
