I believe I may have dyed my bladder RED.

Everyone keeps giving me Fresh garden beets.

And I love beets. Wipe a bit of oil on them (unpeeled) and roast them over indirect heat on the charcoal grill. Done when knife pokes thru easy. You don’t lose any coloring. Haha. Oh, big beets I simmer.

Next time I have to do a pee test......

My colon my be tinted as well.

Happy long hot weekend buds!

I don't think the problem is severe enough for lasting damage until your porcelain toilet bowl gets stained.

I thought I blew out a kidney the last time I ate them. But then I remembered.

Mix with asparagus and hot sauce for the ultimate experience.

Love cooked, whole beets. In fact I have three in the fridge I'll cook for tonight's dinner.

Yeah, hot weekend here. My outside temp gauge says 109. Great day to slow cook some whole beets & ice them down for dinner. Last night I asked my wife if she wanted a steak today & said I could cook it out on the driveway.

I've never been a beet lover. Maybe I just haven't had them prepared right.

We went to the local Farmer's market early to avoid the heat. Came back with Heirloom tomatoes, these funny beans (you shell and then sauté them) and some mini corn that you can eat raw or stir fry (tastes great!)....

Roasted Root veggies
get beets, parsnips, sweet potato, onion, garlic, rutabaga, carrots, etc... (basically anything that grows in the ground. cut everything into smallish cubes (so you can fit a few of them in your mouth, cover with oil (goose fat is outstanding, but not everyone has it) and a little salt. Roast in the oven spread out on a pan until everything is done.

I'm not sure what temp the missus uses, but this says 425.

THis is very simple and surprisingly tasty. It's a great way to get beets down too.

No poop pics either!! I have three whole beets slow cooking in a pan of water right now. Takes them quite a while to cook through. When done, I can just use my hands to rub the skins off after which I'll ice them down for sliciing later on.

Love beets. Partial to the golden ones that don’t discolor other food - the red ones kinda are a food that doesn’t play nice with other foods.

Try sous vide with a little extra sugar in bag.

I likes them pickled, then cubed and tossed with feta cheese and chopped arugula.

Don't waste the beet greens. They are great sauteed with bacon pieces and scallions. There are plenty of easy recipes on line.

Got food poisoning from my aunt's pickled beets when I was a kid. Swore off them forever.
