Favorite animations

Some of the old Bugs Bunny stuff is great and funny to this day. For example, "Bully for Bugs" from 1953. Post some favorites...

Was just talking about this with a friend.... Tom and Jerry is still hilarious. Such a simpler time when dynamite was so easily attainable..

The voice of a generation...

Aeon Flux blew me away the first time I saw it. Liquid Television on MTV. Itself just a really great show with bizarre animation.

Also the Brothers Quay

From Nick Park, who did the Wallace and Gromit movies:

Loved Bugs Bunny growing up. Wallace and Gromit is awesome, too.

Found this movie totally by random years ago when renting something at Blockbuster for my kids: The Thief and the Cobbler. Really was clever and the animation was fascinating.

GH85Carrera 09-24-2020 07:03 AM

I would put Cars 1 & 2 on the list. Especially Sally Carrera, she was hot! ;)

Planes 1&2 and all the Toy Stories.

I loved the Bugs Bunny cartoons as a kid. I was lucky that about the time Saturday morning cartoons lost interest for me was when the modern cartoons with pitiful animation of the character standing still and just their mouth going up and down was considered animation. I have never liked that style of cartoon. It is just cheating the viewer.

I even got to see her in person!

She smiled for me. :D

First one that comes to mind - is Marvin on Bugs Bunny - with the telescope.

5 Summer Stories ANIMATION-- iconic surf movie classic -- featuring animation by John Lamb. The segment used in the movie is from Rocket 88, a 5 1/2 minute surf cartoon that was complete but never finished. ..1975..The unedited film was finally assembled in somewhat

of an original sequential order after 30 years. However, it remains unedited and ROCKET 88 can be seen on You Tube with 2 different sound tracks, the math metal track being the favorite.

hate to be that guy (young whippersnapper!)

but i for one am happy we stepped up the game in Animation. the old school ones barely keep my attention anymore.

Anime..Pixar, etc.

Baz 09-24-2020 08:59 AM

Lot of creativity went into the cartoons of our yoot!

Something to be grateful for.

This was one of my favs along with Rocky and Bullwinkle - and The Jetsons....

1962....I was eight years old. Absorbing everything around me. The Jetsons provided a promise of the future......ahead of it's time. Great time to be alive!

vash 09-24-2020 09:26 AM

no way.

the Jetsons cant hold a candle to a new Anime. Attach on Titan? Pixar? the Incredibles?

we were much simpler back then..i think we have gotten more complicated - yes..so we need more complicated stories. sure, i love the roadrunner moving the black circle into the road and having the coyote fall in.. but damn, low hanging fruit. we need more now.

One of my favorites. I first saw it at a midnight movie showing 25 years ago. Truly unique film.

That's great midnight movie material.

Last for me was Eraserhead, maybe '82.

Early animation and live action combined

This was done often in many of these older Popeye toons made by Hal Roach and Dave Fleischer. Check out when Bluto (Sinbad) walks along his domain in the beginning.
