A 102 years old Kutie

A video to bring a smile, a tear, and perhaps some thought...

Good stuff. "It makes me wish I could get out of this bed and do it all over again."

I thinhk we don't give enough respect and interest to some of those nearing the ends of their lives and appreciate what they lived through. I suppose it's pretty much the same with each generation. I have a lady friend turning 107 in early November. She has lived a great and adventurous life over many parts of the world including getting out of Saigon three days before the big air lift where she worked for the U.S. government for the State Dept. at the time. She's now in an assisted living facility in Texas and still mentally sharp. Her only complaint is that she hasn't died yet and says she doesn't want to live forever. She told me that again when I talked to her on the phone last week. I've known her since she was a young 70 years old.

My grandmother is in her mid 90s and still walks around her neighborhood almost every day and is still sharp. If you ask her, she'll tell you that she's ready to go. My grandfather has been gone for years. Two of my uncles and my dad (son and 2x son-in-laws) have also passed away.

Thanks for posting something positive harkening back to simpler times, and reflecting.

Having lost my mom earlier this year during the height of COVID paranoia (we couldn’t be with her) and helping my dad cope (91 today), I can say that despite any planning, healthy living, etc., living too long is miserable. Family and friends pass away and you’re left alone to wither.

105, shot in bed by a jealous husband...that’s my plan.

My wife's grandmother lived well into her 90s. She buried 4 of her 5 of her children. She out lived all her friends, and I really think she just gave up on life and died.

The man that got me into aerial photography as a career hired me when he was 81. In his words, he took "early retirement at age 92" only because no insurance company on the planet will insure a 90+ year old to be a commercial pilot. He tried even Lloyd s of London. He loved to fly, and had to quit flying photo missions when he turned 90. He retired at age 92 and on his 92nd birthday he piloted his last flight on his birthday. He sold his personal airplane, and the company. In the many thousands of flight he never once had an incident or damage to any aircraft at all.

He was still razor sharp mentally, and lived to age 98 when he kissed his wife good night and walked upstairs to go to bed. When she came up a little later he was dead. He did not spend his last days in the hospital or a nursing home. He lived life and enjoyed it all.

That's how you do it if given the choice. I'm not aware of that sort of choice, but maybe I'm just not old enough to have gotten to that check box yet.

You touched on it. At 76 (77 next month, if I'm lucky) I'm under less peer pressure than I was a year ago. Most of my close buddies already gone.

As the video illustrates well, father time is indeed a cruel bastard. But before he beats us down? Oh, what good times we can have...
