RE: the map thread, how many states have you visited?

I'm talking about driving, not flying in. I think from boyhood to the 90's when I curtailed all travel, I've been to nearly 40 including HI (well I had to Fly there but I drove a lot), but not AK.

Upper New England for sure is on the list of non visit. ME and CT are the only 2 in the entire region that I have passed through. Missed a few Mid Western states as well: NE, OH, IN, IL, KS, MO; maybe a couple more.

Flew to Alaska and Hawaii.

You did not miss much in Nebraska, a lot of corn and wheat.

(48) driving, (1) flying--never been to Alaska, and driving to Hawaii would have been problematic.

I have driven to 41 states, and one foreign country, Canada, in my 911. Add three for car rental and we took a cruise to Alaska and I lived in Hawaii for many years. so 46 off the top of my head.

My goal is to drive my 911 in all the lower 48 states. I might cheat a little and take the Ferry to Alaska with the 911, and drive it in Alaska. I can't think of any logical reason to ship it to Hawaii just to drive it so I will never hit 50 states.

And to clarify, just my "rules" for saying I was in the state requires that I have a regular sit down restaurant meal with a waiter or waitress, and I have to be there long enough to use the men's room. So clipping the corner of a state and only being there for a few minutes dos not count in my system of "rules". Just my made up rules.

I did take my 911 on a Ferry in CT when we went to visit the Gillette Castle. We crossed the river to get there.

In Hawaii I have been to 5 of the islands.

Me driving in 30 states, as a kid with my parents driving, another 3 or 4. My feet touching the ground (most likely in an airport), probably another 5. So probably "on the ground" in almost 40. I don't feel like I have to hit all 50, but I'd like to hit another 5 or more.

Continents - N America, S America, Africa, Europe & Asia (really want to hit Antartica and Oz)

Countries besides the US - Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Scotland & Japan (landed in Netherlands, Germany and Newfoundland) Would really like to add at least another 5-10 on top of this list.

I'm pretty sure this is the whole list of driven in as an adult, ridden through as a kid and landed in an airport.

I'd like to visit Oregon, Montana and/or Wyoming, North or South Dakota. I don't feel the need to try to get to Minnesota, Nebraska or Rhode Island, but I wouldn't pass up a free trip to any of them.

I’ve driven my ‘56 Porsche coupe through 44 states and 4 western Canada provinces. I drove through the other 3 contiguous states (Alabama, Georgia, and Florida) in my 911.

21. I have driven all states from Colorado westward many times. Drove a rental car from Virginia up the eastern seaboard through NYC up to Niagara Falls into Canada. Took a cruise boat to Alaska if that counts. We can all scratch out Hawaii. Driven all the provinces west from Saskatchewan. Like to see the more of east cost someday but too much driving for the family.

One thing for sure, driving through all the New England states is quick and easy compared to most other states, especially Texas. We drove east to west across Connecticut and it only took less than 1/4 tank of gas. In Texas one can drive all day, and still be in Texas.

I think the most boring drive of all is Kansas City to Denver. You can drive for hours, stop for a rest stop, drive for hours and swear you are at the same rest stop and nothing at all has changed until you are far into Colorado.

Alaska, Washington, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Arizona, Wyoming, Utah,
Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Michigan, Ohio, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Oklahoma, Colorado, Hawaii, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida.

So I guess 25.

And Canada... BC, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Ontario.

Countries... Russia, Norway, Italy, France, Spain, Netherlands, Scotland, England, Ireland, Malaysia, Thailand, Mexico. Never left the airport in China and Japan so they don’t count.

48 on tires.

Flew to Hawaii and Alaska: one commercial, one delivering Blackhawks to Alaska.

All the Lower Canadian Provence's except Nova Scotia. I flew there in a CH-53E for an airshow.

Amazing place.

Mexico in the 80's.

42 US + 3 in Canada by car. Hawaii 8 times by air. I have never been in the Pacific NW, Alaska, the Dakotas, etc. Taken a lifetime to do it. This is one big country.

This is tied by Omaha to Denver, I'd say. Just got back from a Chicago-Colorado-Chicago trip and there is a lot of damn Nebraska. It's like a Nebraskarama, or a Nebraskathon. Eastern CO is just an extension of KS or NE. On I-80 you can do 80-85 all day, which helps.

I've had my 911 in 14 states so far.

I remember that road - heading from left to right. A straight line as far as the eye can see. You come over a slight rise, the same again... and again... At night a glow in the distant night sky. That's Chicago.
