How many of you watch guys have gone to the dark side?

I'm not sure how many watches I have. At least a dozen Seikos, Citizens, Casios, that I rotate through and quite a few more that just don't get worn. Then I bought a Casio Protrek smart watch. Figured I'd just work it into the rotation... wear it hiking.

Well, I'm a bit bummed as I've gotten quite used to the notifications and functionality of the smart watch. My collection of cool watches is gathering dust! When I do wear one of the others, I miss the utility of the smart watch.

Anyone else facing this dilemma?

Nope...I still wear my Skagen. Fits my wrist like it's part of me. Wear it every day.

I was wanting a smartwatch for a while. While in Vegas with the wife, I had a few too many 'liquid courages' and decided to take the plunge while on the strip. I am in IT and I REALLY should have known better, as smartwatches are simply wrist computers that have a limited shelf life. I picked up a Tag Heuer Connected. It is sharp, super light and 'fun.' I can change the faces, but it was a dump piece of wrist candy for the price....didn't even have the ability to take my pulse on jogs. Pretty much instant regret.

I did get my wife the Samsung Active 2 watch for her birthday last year. She loves / hates it. It lets her see who is at the front door, lets her track her step, track her walks / jogs......but also reminder her when she has been sedentary. We do sales and are tied to our desks so always moving isn't always a choice.

That said, stay away from stupid priced name whore watches. The Actives are nice, may get one for myself.

Lack of heart rate monitor is one of the down sides to the Casio. $120 at Costco was the upside. I got my gf a Fitbit for Christmas, not sure if she'd like it or not. I had gotten her a Seiko solar a while back. She like the Seiko but would go weeks without wearing it. She loves the Fitbit and wears it daily! She's used it to track her sleep and steps every day.

I have a Pam 000111. Not as nice as a Radiomir but I like the clunky style better.

When I do wear a watch out I like the ambiance of analog (even when I have a cell phone in my jacket pocket).

I now wear a Fitbit everyday. And since I've been working from home since March, haven't really worn any of my analog watches... Had the lockdown not happened, I probably would've bought another mechanical watch to add to the rotation.

Not wearing watches much....because I don't leave the house much.

Zero interest in anything that isn't a mechanical automatic.

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra is my go to watch.

No way. I'm not charging my watch every day.

I'd much rather pay 5000 for something I can wear 25 years an give to my son, than 399 every few years for a piece of disposable land fil.

My wife does love her apple watch though. Only feature it has that I really like, in a grand bit of irony, is the find my phone chime

I had an Apple Watch, the stainless one. I liked it a lot. Not that I really needed to see texts and calendar alerts, heartrate or emails, turn by turn driving directions or weather on my wrist, but it was fun. Wore it for about a year, then my wife broke her Apple Watch so I gave her mine and dug my old 1970s Seiko diver out of the drawer. That was about two years ago and I haven’t really been motivated to get another Apple Watch. The latest ones are better but I’m not reading about anything that really sounds “must have”. The battery of my original Watch gave out so my wife stopped wearing it. I may buy her a new Apple Watch because it does have one very important feature - for her - or maybe for me. When I call her, the Watch isn’t buried in her purse so she actually picks up.

Somehow, Tag Heuer's new Carrera chrono came across my newsfeed this week, and for an afternoon at least I dreamed of wearing one (white face, with the rose gold accents). But I never dream of having any smart watch. I don't want to be so "connected.". I tend to side with Aschen's post two comments above.

I have some nice watches but got into the habit of not wearing one quite a few years back and it stuck. I don't miss having one.

Friend of mine has a smart watch and it can tell him the length of waves he rode on a particular surf session. It comes out to miles, which I thought was pretty cool.

Some of my watches show the tides which would come in handy but OTOH I can look at my tidal calendar or the Internet just as easy so what's the point?

If you really like mechanical watches. Listen to me very carefully. DO NOT PUT ON A SMART WATCH !!!!

You may put your old mechanical watch on to go out, and then you will miss your smart watch, it is just like your phone, it is addictive.

The Omega that I love and wore straight for 15 years is now collecting dust... I haven't worn it in months.
