when did you first fall in love with GD?
i was 13 (1985) when someone gave me the skeletons tape. i was into punk so was intrigued by the imagery and then put on the tape on and was like huh what the hell is this country music? i’ve been obsessed ever since. not a day goes by that i don’t listen, watch an interview, watch a show or glance at something from my dead book library....there’s so much going with the shakedown pre show interviews on youtube, the official GD podcast, the big steve hour on sirius, dave’s picks, dead and co, DSO shows, on and on and on |

pigpen was in good voice and sang most of the songs |

Never really been able to get into the 80s as far as listening to shows goes. What’s a good place to restart? Maybe I’ll try that alpine 87 show. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Watched a little bit, he’s in very good form on that Deal! Looking forward to watching the whole show. Maybe my avoidance of the 80s has to do with the fact that I never really liked audience tapes. Also, the sound got a little synthier then, particularly Bob’s guitar, and some of Brent’s keyboards. I prefer a sparser sound: straight up guitars, piano, and one drummer - think 73-74. I really like the hammond sound on this deal though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
me too. 72-74 is my jam. love em with 1 drummer. 77 is an exception
yea the deal on that 89 is smokin though |
I'm glad they are going thru and cleaning up the old tapes (Dick's and now Dave's + some others).
I hope they finally helped Betty Cantor out |
