when did you first fall in love with GD?
i was 13 (1985) when someone gave me the skeletons tape. i was into punk so was intrigued by the imagery and then put on the tape on and was like huh what the hell is this country music? i’ve been obsessed ever since. not a day goes by that i don’t listen, watch an interview, watch a show or glance at something from my dead book library....there’s so much going with the shakedown pre show interviews on youtube, the official GD podcast, the big steve hour on sirius, dave’s picks, dead and co, DSO shows, on and on and on

Love the Big Steve hour

When did I get hooked? The first time I ever listened to Reckoning, that 1980 run for me is epic.

I’m into John Kadlecik, and the Golden Gate Wingmen, and lots of 80’s Dead.

It’s the antidote to TV and the world

Never really been able to get into the 80s as far as listening to shows goes. What’s a good place to restart? Maybe I’ll try that alpine 87 show.

Watched a little bit, he’s in very good form on that Deal! Looking forward to watching the whole show.

Maybe my avoidance of the 80s has to do with the fact that I never really liked audience tapes.

Also, the sound got a little synthier then, particularly Bob’s guitar, and some of Brent’s keyboards. I prefer a sparser sound: straight up guitars, piano, and one drummer - think 73-74. I really like the hammond sound on this deal though.

I'm glad they are going thru and cleaning up the old tapes (Dick's and now Dave's + some others).

I hope they finally helped Betty Cantor out

I do that often, use the App to listen.

Need to go take a few pictures of the stickers on my bus.

Back in the day my '66 Mustang had more than one GD sticker on it and every once in a while my dad would take it to work at the Pentagon. He said he always got lots of thumbs up, cracks me up.

Deadhead sticker on Cadillac.

Yes, a few...

Stony Brook, Capitol Theater, Felt Forum?

Probably a half dozen times in the early 80's
