FIXED! Thanks,
Wayne |
Tech note: If your engine is anything similar to the one in my 66 MGB (and it is) it will run best with NGK plugs. I think Champion were factory. Something I struggled with years back.
Super cool car. Thanks! |

BP6es is supposed to be the ticket.
Don’t trust me, I sold my MG decades ago. https://www.mgexp.com/forum/mgb-and-gt-forum.1/which-spark-plugs.1914187/ |

Success! After 40+ years of dormancy, the beast awakens! Drove it up and down the block. There's a long To Do list now, but it's getting much, much closer to being ready for Monterey!

Very cool! I didn’t remember that it hadn’t run in 40 years, that’s an awfully long time.
The forum seems to be having problems. The last couple days, the photos are not uploading properly. Well, they do upload, but they don’t show up. |

I can’t get over how small that thing is. How does it compare to something like a 914 in size?
|
I bet that thing would make a 917 look big

I actually have some pretty small cars:
- 1960 BMW 700 - 1969 Alpine A110 - 1947 Zagato Testadoro 750 this Probe 16 is bigger than all of them. I'd actually recon its about the same size as the 914? Ironically, the tank (the 1958 Daimler Ferret) that we have is actually shorter than the 914 as well! Also, odd - the 962 is insanely wide, but not too much bigger than a 914 either. Super excited that this thing got running today with no obvious issues. Small funny tidbit - I was driving it down the street, trying to figure out why the thing had no top-end power. Every time I shifted into gear and let the clutch out, it would fell like it was lugging and was a dog. "Must be the jetting" I said to myself. Duh! The car is so weird, that the shift pattern is backwards! I was in 4th gear trying to go down the street when I thought I was in first! *DOH* -Wayne |
Here's the Zagato parked in the same position in the driveway for comparison...

We had some very not-good suspension problems that I couldn't locate, no matter how hard I looked. Turns out the problem is buried under the front spoiler and appears to be a broken suspension piece. We'll get to it tonight.
