Guns don't kill people but the dog sure did try

https://www.foxnews.com/us/dog-accidentally-shoots-owner

Quote:
The owner was picking up his dog when its paw got lodged in the trigger of the gun in his waistband, sending a bullet through his thigh.

The man was not badly hurt. The bullet didn't hit any major arteries, and he was able to drive himself to the hospital.

if the guy had a proper holster he wouldn't have needed a trip to the hospital

Leave stupid carry to the movies. Put that thing in a holster. Isn't that what happened to the sports guy years ago, was in a night club with a gun in the waist of his sweatpants, it started to slide out, he grabbed for it and pulled the trigger.

That so dumb of the owner that it reminds me of this. Looks fake but funny still. I don't shoot guns but I think the recoil of the AK would cause the monkey to drop the gun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnKKcjwtHWw

I honestly can't work up any sympathy at all for someone that is stupid enough to manage to shoot themselves. And don't blame the dog, he did not put a loaded gun in your waistband. He should be arrested for unlawful discharge of a weapon, and first class idiocy.

I’m as Pro2A as anybody but I think firearm safety training should be mandatory.

Agree completely...purchase a gun, and either demonstrate/document that you know the drill, or take a class to get certified in the area of intended use.

But I'll go one better on the dog...recently, as a cop was attempting to break up an illegal cockfight - his femoral artery was severed by one of the two razors attached to the cocks legs, after which he bled out in short order. Came in on a newsfeed as "chicken kills cop." Google it!

No. Negligent discharges should be prosecuted, even if the gun owner is the only one injured. Last time I was pulled over and told the cop I had gun in my door pocket, all he asked was, "Is it in a holster?" Anyone who carries sans holster like in the movies is an idiot and should not own guns.
