The video of the buck attacking brought to mind a story my dad used to tell on himself.
I believe it was during the depression ('30s)that one wintery evening after work he and a neighbor decided they would try to get the buck whose tracks they had spotted while logging. Since it was after dark one of them had the rifle the other carried a flashlight.
They found the buck alright, but when he saw the light, he charged! The light and rifle both hit the ground as the two would be hunters scrambled up a big birch tree.
No venison for the families that night.

Best
Les

i’ve been cycling a lot this summer. i was riding with my wife on a bike path that runs along the erie canal. a lot of people walking and riding. we came across a group of people standing around blocking the path so we stopped and saw all these people petting a grown deer and talking to it like it was a circus freak. the deer just stood there loving the attention like a dog would

i ride at the parks all the time and if i stop long enough, families of deer will literally walk 5 feet from me munching grass and what not. i talk to them too. try to warn them of the dangers. it does no good. no fear at all of humans. if i walk aggressively towards them they just look at me like i’m the crazy one (which i am but how dare they judge me)

I live in the city and we certainly should not have deer. But this year we have a pair that have been stopping by every couple weeks.

Went hunting again this afternoon. Good day! Saw a lot of deer. Had a shot on a wide 8 point that I've been watching on camera since August. Let him walk. He had other things on his mind and I thought "would I want someone shooting me when I'm chasin tail?" Plus, if he makes it through this season he'll be a really nice deer next year. Saw 12 deer tonight while I was in the stand. Had a button buck under my stand. He looked up so I smiled at him Watching that 8 chase off a smaller 8 and 6 and then chasing a doe all over the woods was a lot of fun! There's a 12 point somewhere in the area that I'd like another look at. Been a good two days in the woods.

I'd like to make it out a few more times before the weekend youth gun season opens. Once the guns start going off, the deer get a lot more skittish. Luckily we own the woods so only a few people hunt it. My friend is bring his daughter out for youth season but he knows about the two younger ones that travel together so they're safe.

Discovery Park is full of the darn things.

I'm just northwest of Alderwood Mall. We see deer here every now and then. Far more common are the coyotes - I chased one out of my front yard just about three hours ago. They must live down around Swamp Creek, under the I-5 and I-405 interchange. The coyotes come up after our burgeoning bunny population.
