Tyson Jones Fight

Anyone watch that embarrassment to the sport Saturday night?

First, the quality of the prefights was terrible. Really, a ex NBA guy against a angry U Tuber? Were any of the other fighters ranked by any boxing sanction (WBA, WBO, etc...) Where did they find these guys? It was like the XFL.

Next, the boxing panel was Sugar Ray Leonard, some dude with a mullet, Snoop Dog and some other guy. I think the son of a fighter. It was like an SNL skit. Still shocked Leonard and Mario Lopez put their names on this.

Smoking weed during the musical performances was in bad taste. I have zero problem with people smoking, but based on the acts; I felt they were really targeted towards young people. Hopefully kids don't see Snoop smoking a fat one and think wow that is so cool.

The main event. 1st, I didn't appreciate seeing Tyson's lower butt cheeks as he climbed into the ring. Can't believe the guy wore short, shorts. 2nd, they just looked so old. All of Tyson's punches were so telegraphed. Even with Jone's diminished speed, he still was able to counter or move out of the way. Unfortunately too, I believe Jones bought into the hype that Tyson was still a destroyer. For the first 6 rounds he just grabbed Tyson when ever he came in. By the 7th round, I really think he realized Tyson was an old man with no threat. Fight was ruled a draw.

Amusing how many people thought that based on the short film of Tyson punching a bag, he could compete for a real title. He would likely be dead by the end of the 1st round.

I don't understand how they ended in a "draw" at the end of the Tyson/James fight, it appeared to me that Tyson was kicking his azz, and Jones was trying to evade him.

They are possibly trying stage a re-match for more pay-per-view $$ ?

I would not watch that debacle unless highly paid to do so.

Tyson and Leonard and all the rest were in it just to make a few bucks. It is just a different way to put on a show. It can be singing and dancing with the stars, or a boxing match. Whatever you can do to get people to pay to watch it. I would rather watch grass grow or rust form on a Fiat.

I recorded it. I'm going to play it back on fast forward so it looks like a real fight.

Funny, I had Jones winning. Tyson was active but didn't seem to really connect too many times. I did see Jone's punch Tyson in the forehead quite a few times. I am wondering if I missed something.

I am Jone's bias so maybe my lenses are fogged. Either way, he will always be the GOAT to me.

I've got all the old Tyson fights recorded on VHS. In his day he was a monster beast............Jeff invite me over to watch that recording to see his old age wrinkles.

I worked this fight in the YouTuber's (Jake Paul's) corner. He has limited boxing skills, but it takes "ganas" to get into the ring and put it all on the line.

Next, the boxing panel was Sugar Ray Leonard, some dude with a mullet, Snoop Dog and some other guy. I think the son of a fighter. It was like an SNL skit. Still shocked Leonard and Mario Lopez put their names on this.

I disagree. I watched it from ringside and thought Tyson clearly won the "exhibition bout." Roy was winded after the first round and Mike did not throw heavy shots to Roy's head. It was agreed by both that they would not try to hurt each other. Each kept to his word.

Amusing how many people thought that based on the short film of Tyson punching a bag, he could compete for a real title. He would likely be dead by the end of the 1st round.
This was just a show. These two bouts and the rappers were there for entertainment.

I haven't been a fan of the fights since Ali stepped down.

I definitely didn't pay-per-view to watch it, I caught the highlights on YouTube several days later (FREE).
