Question Sweet 1969 911T

I just do not understand what value this car would have, or why anyone would bid? Is this even redeemable?
https://www.iaai.com/vehicledetails/37458471?RowNumber=12

Any ideas?
t.

maybe a "T" is now so spendy that's an option

or the seller is WC Fields

I see about $28.74 in scrap tin there. So if high bid is less than $20.00 there is a real profit there!

Good way to re-identify a pristine, but stolen car.

And yes, I remember a couple of guys in Oregon who purchased an "S" in similar condition, in hopes of using its VIN to increase the value of a "T" that they had restored. Pretty sordid tale. They didn't get "caught", but only because they were dumb enough to brag up their efforts a bit, and an honest man warned them he would turn them in, so they never followed through. Randy and I both know who they were...

Well, there is another one available if that one does not do it. This one has a valuation as well.

I know a guy with a desirable 356 Speedster year and model "in a bag". All of the VIN tags, the "secret" VIN location(s) cut out (under the dash, etc.), and a clear title.

Another of the several reasons I decided to leave the early 911 world in my wake. No regrets that my genuine 911S got shipped off to a friend in Istanbul.

I have zero desire to own something others want badly enough to counterfeit one..

That is the only reason I could think off....which just sucks. I hate that there are so many people that are willing to deceive.

I truly miss my air-cooled Porsche and I while I am not a person that worries about provenance (because I don't own any rare items) it still makes me think twice about purchasing a new one, especially when the prices are what they are.

"Collectors", once they gain an interest in something, seem to be the ones who most consistently ruin it for everyone else. You think the automotive world has gotten bad, you should check out the firearms world. Things are much more easily faked. Hell, if Custer actually had available every rifle that is now claimed to be a "Custer battlefield pick-up", he would have kicked their asses...

I have a very old Kimber 1911. I have had issues with the tolerances and the gun shops have told me it's crap and offer me ludicrously low values.....I think the firearm world is just like the cool car world.....be aware and be smart. I know what it's worth. The same thing applies with the 911 world....I don't care what the markets insanity says, a 1977 911 had issues and is not worth what people are asking.....

Still, if I could get another air cooled 911 at a reasonable price.....

There was a guy in Calgary that did the same thing... 70 S vin onto a 68 (or 69T)... he got caught by the previous owner of the rusty 70 S shell and tried to chalk it up to an elaborate joke...

Scheisters... they are real.
