Low header pressure for the engines doomed them to overreact to compensate.
Obviously too much velocity upon touch down.
BUT, the flight control software was meant to be tested to the extreme. You could see that in the nozzle servo system response.
Vehicle was properly oriented upon landing, thus test is a success.

Sierra Nevada's "Dream Chaser" could've glided to a nearby airstrip (as this vehicle returned to its home) and landed.

And btw - that's like a 12 story building taking off and doing that flip!

Well, it looks like all those old Sci-Fi movies from the '50s might've had it right after all. They always showed the space ships landing tail-first on some alien world.

I know that gravity is 1/6th on the moon as on earth but still they traveled a 'long' way there then back whereas in this test it was a really short trip and it did not end well except for correct orientation of its explosive landing!

Consider how much hardware was just tossed aside during our Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions.
