Getting people to accept the vaccine will not be straight forward.

There will be tens of millions of world wide vaccinations before it makes it to the general public. The safety of the vaccine will be well known by that time.

I can't say I'm super pumped to be among those who will apparently get it first but I won't have much say in the matter and so have made peace with it.

I was inspected, injected and not rejected so many times when I was in basic training in the Army.

I received my flu and shingles shot last week.

I'll get it. I'm bad, I'm nationwide.

I have never been so sick before or after that day! Most of my flight was stuck in our racks for two days.

We already received our high strength "geezer" flu shot this year. And both of the shingles shots. We will get the Kung Flu vaccine as soon as our pharmacy has it available for us.

I was ready to get it as soon as it was available to me, but now I'm not so sure. I'm not convinced it was released because it was technically ready or because of political pressure.

Likely I will be near the top of the list to get the vaccine. Currently DOD (Department of Defense) guidelines indicate that it is “Optional” but those of us who have been in for a few years remember the incredible pushback from the controversial anthrax vaccine from the early 2000s which was mandatory.

The Pfzeir and Moderna vaccines use bits mRNA (messenger RNA) to trigger the immune response by identifying a foreign protein. The Pfizer vaccine is neither attenuated (live) nor an inactive (virus) based vaccine, so the person receiving this vaccine CANNOT become infected.

When I eventually get the stick, I hope it’s the Pfizer vaccine.

^^ I did read about that, but statistically 4 people who received the vaccine and developed Bells Palsy is consistent with the number of people in the general public who would have developed Bells Palsy and NOT have received the vaccine.

“Four people out of 22,000 in the vaccinated group developed Bell’s Palsy, about 0.02% of participants. This is consistent with the expected rate in the general population, and it’s not a strong enough correlation to prove any causal connection between the vaccine and the condition.”

Bell's palsy also usually resolves completely. My ex-wife had it after child birth and if quickly resolved. My friend for HS woke up with it one day in college. His did not resolve.

Hopefully we don't have a redux of the Swine Flu vaccine. It was also in an election year, odd similarities to be sure....
