stimulus check

Received a check from the IRS Treasury this morning....$441
I'm assuming that is a stimulus check? I have no reason to get anything else from them.

cabmandone 12-30-2020 04:08 AM

An actual check? Or direct deposit? I don't even know how that number would work with any of the Stimulus (either CARES or the current)

KFC911 12-30-2020 04:10 AM

Was it from Uncle $ammyG? Sending mine to Pelosi .... again :D

stevej37 12-30-2020 04:11 AM

direct deposit.
The reason I'm almost sure...is because it's the same ratio of the payment that I got from the prior stimulus check

LEAKYSEALS951 12-30-2020 04:14 AM

What comes around goes around.

KFC911 12-30-2020 04:18 AM

I get the full amount from Uncle Sammy... just checked. Posted for deposit on 01042021 ...

stevej37 12-30-2020 04:19 AM

The payee is listed as IRS TREAS 310

Starless 12-30-2020 04:21 AM

They took out taxes? My last one came in complete without taxes being deducted. And I live in Connecticut where everything is taxed. Sometimes twice.

From what I recall... you should get the full amt. My posted amt just shows "External Deposit" for now.

No..taxes aren't taken out.
I'm over the allowable income for a complete check.

Ahh....good for you! I didn't realize they did that. I thought you either got it, or you didn't.

I haven't looked into it much but I thought the ceiling was 75K or 150K filing jointly. I thought this go around if you were over the limits you got nothin! I'll have to do some more looking.

LEAKYSEALS951 12-30-2020 09:00 AM

Laugh it up fuzz ball (Han Solo ref.), I've already covered over 130 of those checks this year in fed withholding.
Some people get checks they don't deserve, others just get the bill.

craigster59 12-30-2020 02:04 PM

Nothing yet.

But on the bright side I've decided to put the money towards all new coil packs for the 3.5 Ecoboost. I figure what I'm paying in taxes for the stimulus I'm recovering some of the cost by doing the work myself.

stevej37 12-30-2020 03:05 PM

^^^
Supposedly a bigger chunk going out tonite...check your acc't tomorrow.

Tishabet 12-30-2020 09:07 PM

I'm going to use $200 of it to start a small business, then use the other $400 as a down payment for a house

Nah, I'm in the same boat as Vash here.

Why do I get the feeling that most on this BBS don’t NEED this, it’s more they WANT it? Personally I think anybody who hasn’t lost their job shouldn’t be eligible. Sorry but for all the news of how bad off people are, there’s a record boom of people buying homes, vacation properties, boats, RVs, i.e. discretionary purchases. Which means that a whole bunch of people aren’t feeling any pinch from 2020. Meanwhile this “free” money is basically just a government loan that we are going to be paying back for decades in the form of higher taxes and inflation. So don’t fool yourselves into thinking there’s not any strings attached....

ramonesfreak 12-31-2020 03:20 PM

havent had a paycheck since March. this $600, might as well give me a bag of jelly beans

I'm set up with direct deposit with my SS but the prior stimulus check came by snail mail. I think you had to apply online to receive the stimulus by direct deposit with the default being USPS.

Good point and one that I think most of us already realize.

But for someone like me on SS - how will I be affected by future tax increases?

I think it depends on how your taxes were paid or refunded in the last reporting year.
If you direct deposited a refund...you should get the check the same way..and early.
